I do punk, they were imported from Saudi Arabia, they were not a part of this country when things used to be better here.

These garbage laws have destroyed this country.

He (Javid Iqbal) even named Dualibi as the Arab scholar who was sent to Pakistan by Saudi Arabia to impose the laws that Pakistan was averse to enforcing. The fact is that the 1980 Zakat & Ushr Ordinance, imposed by General Zia on Sunnis and Shias, was framed by Dualibi in Arabic.

Before this Dualibi came here, zakat and ushr were still actively in place but the mechanism of its implementation was different, more controlled and overlooked by religious authorities of various groups.

The main concern however with state imposition of it is that it led to further corruption and use of it for nefarious activities purposes like propping up certain fire brand clerics who later became a threat to the state.

The bigger problem with these laws by Dualibi is that they added inconsistency and difficulty to the state when thier implementation contradicted earlier constructed laws.

Let's be honest here, things were better before these laws came into place and people were certainly more religious.

It might just be Arabia, no Saudi bit, what with the thousands of Princes and such -- but a larger debate I think will be whether the idea of "equality before the law" will have any place in Peninsula Arabian society - in other societies where Arabic is spoken, the idea of equality before the is a given, it is under threat from the irrational, but it is a idea that is based with the Islamic ethic, the notion of equality -- but so is the idea that all are not equal before the law --- Will large populations be able to overcome a tribal ethic in favor a one that suits a modern NATION state?, I think a strong case can be made that for this to happen in Arabia, the government supported Wahabi will have to reform or cease being government supported.


For Pakistan, since it's inception the Islamist have fought society tooth tooth and nail against the idea of equality before the law and this has resulted in them being perceived as anti-Pakistan, indeed the slur "Napak-istan" will never be forgotten by Pakistanis.

"You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or cast or creed -- that has nothing to do with the business of the State." This was Jinnah's dream, the founding principle behind the independence of Pakistan as he himself stated in the same landmark speech: "We are all citizens and equal citizens of one State. We should keep that in front of us as our ideal and you will find that in due course, Hindus would cease to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense, because that is the personal faith of each individual, but in the political sense as citizens of the State."

sorry to say but you are also one of them as we can see you flags . dont take side man . as a citizen of Pakistan i have no harm feelings or hate toward Saudi Arabia but i am thankful of saudi public and GOV to support us at many critical times . but if they think they are masters on Pakistanis or they think they have money so we should be there servants they are wrong . we Pakistani can go to hell with love but we refuse to go paradise by force or money . only i need that they treat us equal and a nation .they think they pay for our nuclear program as they are masters. which is wrong .
