It is ironic that Ottomans had railway connecting Medina, Damascus and Istanbul 100 years ago.
It has taken the Saudis 100 years to envision the same goal and ironically all major contractors happen to be Turkish.
Because they just had the right geographic and terrain data lying around at the right time!

Saudis are doing right things for last many years. They just need to improve on shia rights, women rights immigrant rights.

And I'm surprised again to see Pakistanis criticizing Saudi Arabia without giving credit where it is due.

well living back in the 1920's is not a realistic approach of analysis regarding international relations , diplomacy ,& its geo-political sphere especially where economical , perception's are concerned the very fact that we are living in the 21'st century
where the basic guidelines are as follows as long as the job gets done sorry but the practicality of today's world is hourly & to be honest saudi's are doing quite an impressive job & their diplomacy come's in league of nation's "par excellence" . After all it's the OPEC & Major world commercial organizations' are the ones that gets to decides the course of economic development's & not ankara sorry but emotions & sentiments are nonexistence entity's where commercial interest's are concerned in that case

Well look at this way, 60 years ago female literacy in KSA was in single digits. King Faisal had to provide military security for girls who wanted to go to school.

Today, literacy levels are around 90+% and there are more Saudi female graduates than male.

There are obviously many more improvements that can be made in various issues. Political reforms, freedom of expression, allowing freedom of religion and of course fighting extremist ideology and terrorism. But at least the direction the Kingdom is taking under King Abdullah is in the right direction. Under King Fahd there were huge question marks on the viability of KSA because of his support to extremists and basically no economic policy.
