Yes the Chinese can offer same or even better deals when you take multiple things into account like weapons of choice integration, future upgrades, sanction proof, Friendship price & favourable financial terms even soft loans. This however does not equate to French equipment being bad. Hope i have cleared myself.

What we need are subs with cruise missiles if Europe is ready to give that good if not we have alternative in form of China. I personally think that Chinese are a better option since they would be ready to provide us tailor made subs with the possibility of TOT and would also bring no threat of sanctions. Bar the Chinese no one will do that. That's what the Chinese deal is for. The German subs would still excel at their traditional role i.e. hunting ships, area denial and so on. Dare I say the 214s are the best around at such a role. You also have some other great European options.
