Still got 6 years to complete the first order. I'd say Good luck with it, considering the Indian government track record in defence deals its probably going to take another decade to materialise. If the news has any truth in it in the first place.

I heard different information from someone who I know personally. He mentioned 54 are coming to Air Force, in other words, 36 more are coming. Asked him about the original 126 figure, he said not sure about that figure, however, 54 is confirmed. Don't ask for the source peeps, won't be able to disclose the name. Hopefully, he is right, otherwise he'll get lots of **** all his life for making me look like a fool on international forum.

Hope that we move in this direction 86 is way better number than 36. I think by signing 36 India put itself in better position to negotiate.

In comments to the Press Trust of India shortly after the signing of the France-India inter-governmental agreement (IGA) that supports the sale of the fighter aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF), Trappier said that Dassault was open to manufacturing the Rafale in India should the company secure additional fighter aircraft contracts with the IAF.

Deliveries will start' in 2019 and will complete in 2023 so that makes it 6 years. So it's more of realistic facts rather than pessimistic nonsense.

And btw the article you just tagged merely states that dassault would be willing to manufacture rafale in India should the country secure additional jets. it doesnt say anywhere that a deal has been signed so nothing new here.

Actually it's the Rafale that has been piling up export orders lately since Eurofighter and Rafale have finally been put into war use, albeit more in an A2G mode.

Maybe the military planners in many countries have an idea or two?
