France negotiate with India the sale of 50 more Rafal aircraft

MODI A SMART NUT-good negotiator- know how to keep the ball moving. By 2020 India Defence Budget will around
USD 105 Billion. Enough for the Asian area coverage.
More than double in three years?

. .
Almost 8billion for 36 jets and now 50, more.I think it will be 13 to 14 billion for 50 jets.India is throwing money.price is not justified and also there is no technology transfer.if India wants to throw money, why not f-35? Very sad decision of Indian government.it's like giving money to someone who will never educate Indian engineers about the technology used in rafale.
Nope. The first deal includes setting up maintenance centers, training in France etc. These one time cost makes it looks like costly, I think 54 will be about the same price as first 36.

.
My source is from Navy. But, I get your point.
Migs are good, but lack weapons package.... rafales are likely to come thats how India will execute 126, 4 squadrons to Air Force and 2 to navy....

Sounds promising. Will be great if it happens. What's your take on the single engine contest for IAF.

not every country can maintain a huge number of heavy twin engine aircrafts, thats where single engine light fighters come into play, since we have a huge airspace, we need more fighters to do sorties every hour of the day, since at the moment, we lack good single engine and dependable fighter, we have to work with heavy twin engine fighters, which actually increases the cost of flying per hour or the cost to keep the country safe....:p:
Thus in my opinion, single engine fighters like gripen, tejas and F16's do justice to the budget and also relieve pressure of the heavy twin engine fighters.....also maximizes the life of a heavy bird, maybe we can keep them ready for war....8-)

See you guys have started a good program of make in India. Technology transfer is necessary.look at the amount you are paying to the French.they will be very delighted to see 13 or 14 billion coming with this deal.8 billion plus 13 or 14 billion.almost 22 billion.India deserves tot in 22 billion. This is not justified by the French.

India is penny wise, pound foolish.

So With single engine contest, India has in effect throw the Texas fighter under the bus. Texas fighter is a failure just like a junk tank.

I am convinced that India will ditch the single engine fighter order from USA and gripen and just order more rafales.

India will build three lines to mass produce tejas mark one and two instead .

The rafales will arrive soon to give India breathing space until tejss numbers and production move to twenty plus each year

If India would stay with Tejas, than it won't need this single engine competition. Evidently, Tejas is rejected as a single engine platform, that is why Modi wants this tender.

It's best to accept that Tejas is a failure now than when its cancelled, just like Arjun. As such, Tejas is another overbudget, much delayed failure. It's a matter of time someone will pull the plug.

Focus on either f-16 or Grippen instead. These are India's only two choices. Unless you can convince Pakistan to sell India JF-17..

your wrong tejas is very much alive only indian navy rejected it for carrier operations for bieng too heavy which it is but new version MK1a is already under construction with at least 500-800KG lesser weight and a new GaN based radar+ GaN based EW+ECM+internal Jammer suite and a new central computing DATABUS a La F16 type 100 TB with next gen JMDCS/HMDS and next gen forward looking internal IRST and OBOBS & IFR all under 6tonne and a new gen light -low & wide landing gear (made with help from LM)

as for air force @faithfulguy already 40 LCA MK1 are on order and 80 MK1a are on order and we have already orderred 99 GE414 98Kn turbofan jet engines

so please do not worry we will not and never kill tejas programme cause even as it is still we have just overall with all kinds of radars+avionicks + missiles & ammo & sun systems & jet engines & diffenrt sapres parts for internationa aviation gaints & counsaltncy firms and all the R&D costs and salerries over the years and ifra costs comined in LCA programme it still with 18+ prototypes with fuel costs in just over 2.25 billion dollars wich is not even half of what a compant like SAAB spent on in its Grippen prgramme which is a 100 year old player in aviation industry

rest you can speculate yourself SIR :sarcastic:

Dassault Aviation selected Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) as its private sector partner to manufacture the Rafale Combat jets in India trying to bypass Government-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) as the production house. This was the first deviation of RFP clauses. Then Dassault Aviation blamed that Hindustan Aeronautics Limited doesn’t have proper infrastructure to build and absorb Transfer of Technology (TOT) fully aware that HAL was building Russian Sukhoi-30MKI in Country , while RIL had not even taken up any aviation Projects in the country let alone manufacturing of 4++ Generation fighter aircrafts.

Indy posters were commenting about the deficiencies of canard design vis a vis their superior delta wing wing LCA. Funny how they are paying billions for it now.
