Foreign Exchange Earnings from tourism in India to increase by 6.8% in 2018-19

The Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEE) from tourism stood at USD 28.9 billion (Rs 1.97 trillion) in FY 2018-19, which accounted for 5.4 per cent of the total exports, according to a latest FICCI-Yes Bank report.

The contribution is further expected to increase by 6.8 per cent to $30.8 billion in 2019 and rise by 5.6 per cent p.a. by 2029 to reach Rs 3.63 trillion. However, India ranks 14th in terms of absolute FEE and 122nd in terms of share of visitor exports in total export.

India is also the third largest globally in terms of investment in travel & tourism with an investment of USD 45.7 billion (Rs 3.12 trillion) in 2018, accounting for 5.9 per cent of national investment. This is expected to increase by 9.4 per cent in 2019 to Rs 3.42 trillion, and further rise by 7.4 per cent till 2029, taking the share in national investment to 6.1 per cent

30 BN USD is just small figure. Who would not like to visit this beautiful country at least once in their lifetime. It will increase manifold inicoming decade and huge contribution will come from medical tourism. India is known as the pharmacy of the world and soon it will be known as hospital of the world where people from all across the world can come and get them self treated at a very reasonable amount with Quality Services.

There are three million Indians in USA alone. They come to India to visit relatives, buy tons of expensive sarees or jewelleries, visit tourist desitinations within india. Not mooli ka paratas. Unlike foreigners many dont really have the option of complaining about India and staying away - they got relatives etc.

moron People of Indian origin are also foreigners if they hold a foreign passport. But these are essentially desis who immigrated a few years back and acquired foreign citizienship. You can play as many deluded word games as you like but most of "foreign tourism" is nothing but desis with foreign passports visiting india. Now shoo off.

Yes if they hold PIO card (most do nowadays).

In many places (religious) , one can do with excellent free food and free accommodation. Go to Haridwar or Rishikesh. Stay as much as you want and eat as much as you want and it is totally free.
