FIVE NEWS: Islam on the rise in the UK

Even if there is afterlife the person should be granted entry in the paradise on basis of his deeds not on basis of his belief it is just like osama is in heaven while gandhi is in hell

Ya i know right the holy books portray god in a preety bad way IMO l0l.if the books are true id rather be a non believer.I believe in god in my own way well i am a skeptic but yeah.

It is tradition that a muslims name should be a name that has been written in quran. Atleast that what I was told when my hrandfather was trying to change my name in to Ayşe... Thanks the god that ı don't believe in that he could not :P

its kind of a shame all the good ancient names there were and yet we're all stuck with religious names.

Wouldnt it be cool to see people called Xerxes or Brutus.

Shocking - I wonder what the BNP would do if they got into power in the UK. Wonder if Nick Griffin would be another HITLER but the holocaust actually was against Islam this time instead of Jews. If the whole world does become Islamic then it's a sad day for human kind. The good thing about the world we have today is that we can all choose what life we want to live. We can choose to follow Islam, Judaism or Christianity. However, the right to choose in some Islamic countries is forbidden. In my opinion, people who follow Islam are so obessed about Islam that they must force other people to follow it. They don't care about their opinions. This is the reason why Islam is never going to be the main religion. There are tons of religions out there, and for some reason, Islam always seems to be the worst. If you compare Islam to any other religion, I'd prefer to choose them. Never in my right mind will I ever follow Islam and I know I'm not the only one in this world. We are all humans so just respect the choices every human being chooses. However, that's hard for people who follow Islam. Isn't it?

Chill dude even i hate islam but you shouldn't talk this way about other religions or hurt other people's religious sentiment not only it will get you banned but it's unethical

i dont know , and i dont mean to be mean...but you people have an unhealthy obsession with religion.
...
I guess that's how it would seem to someone who has lost touch with religion themselves.

Similarly, most of the people would seem to a religious person to be self-delusional: working so hard for fleeting, evanescent things like money. On the religious side, I know people that pray not to be rich and not to be poor, because both are unhealthy conditions.

And to the People Who Accept (Muslims) at least, Acceptance (Islam) isn't a religion. 'religio-' in Latin comes from grouping or provincialism. Or we would simply have called ourselves by a provincial/tribal name. We struggled so hard for not being called Muhammadans. We don't have a flag or a symbol or a set of customs. Our way is God-consciousness, and that's something that sticks, it's a state of being, or as you put it, an obsession!

Whatever he said a Muslim would take with a smile, and then invite him to coffee!

Though he and you share something: you both reach an opinion without having studied something, and you're both too haughty to think your opinion could be, God forbid, wrong!

To "I believe in god in my own way ...":
I'm curious to know what do you believe about Him, and what idea/image does the name God conjure up in your mind.

"...holy books portray god in a preety bad way IMO..."
You haven't read them then. I'll wire you a 100 AD if you made a list of the top 10 things God tells you about Himself in the Old Testament and in the Qur'an (I'd have added more books but I'll have to augment the money!). Want to take it up?

Even if there is afterlife the person should be granted entry in the paradise on basis of his deeds not on basis of his belief it is just like osama is in heaven while gandhi is in hell

Who told you that in all traditions people went to Heaven on the basis of deeds or even their beliefs? As we understand it, that happens only in the other direction i.e. people go to Hell for those reasons. Heaven nobody gets without mercy from The Exceedingly Merciful.

PS:
...it is just like osama is in heaven while gandhi is in hell
I don't know much about Mr. Osamah but reportedly he was a terrorist, but so was Mr. Gandhi: he colluded with people who blew up trains, with people who conspired with the Third Reich to bring down his own government of India, told the civilians to disobey the laws of the land etc etc. Similarly Gen. Washington was a traitor to the British. What I'm saying it, who's side of history are you looking from, the question of perspective. Mr. Bin Laden may be a traitor to Saudi and an enemy of the US administration, but a leader of somebody's war of liberation. How I think we should look at history is, without perspective, through the anvil of right and wrong, and afford indecision for the grey areas where we don't have enough data or a conclusion.

No, I don't think it would. Brutus is associated with betrayal.

Why is changing name so essential:confused:
It is absolutely not essential at all. I mean, using the word essential in that phrase is giving the issue far too much importance.

There are a few things that necessitate a name change. I'll recount some instances where this change was affected:
-there's a companion named birrah, which translates to something like 'the essence of good/goodness embodied'. That's putting yourself higher than humanity. Her name was changed. Similarly if there were somebody called 'evil' it would have mandated the same course of action.
-the Father Of Young Camels Abu Bakr R. A. was named abdul ka3bah - the slave of the ka3abah. That's absurd because you can't be the slave of a house, and it was changed.
waHshii-wild/savage wan't deemed too wild to be changed
-I'm a little doubtful about this one, but a person named Dog was called by nickname or given a secondary name. However, Banu Kalb, the tribe named Children Of The Dog, were still called that, maybe because that person was long gone and you can't change history
-I can't remember well, somebody named 'trash' or thereabouts was given a much nicer name!

What you're witnessing is:
-zealous converts who want to adopt a whole new identity
-zealous community that in their ignorance thinks somehow a convert needs a new name.

We ARE ordered to give our children good names (the best ones being Slave of God and Slave of the Most/Constantly/Exceedingly Merciful), not frivolous ones or those that either over-exalt or demean their status as a human.

It is tradition that a muslims name should be a name that has been written in quran. Atleast that what I was told when my hrandfather was trying to change my name in to Ayşe... Thanks the god that ı don't believe in that he could not :P
Is that a tradition in Turkiyë? Because it's not a tradition in Islam.
And Ayşe (3aa2ishah) is not a name in the Qur'an. Infact, there's so few names in it that such a tradition would be unsustainable.

Narated By Abu Said Al-Khudri : I heard Allah's Apostles when his uncle, Abu Talib had been mentioned in his presence, saying, "May be my intercession will help him (Abu Talib) on the Day of Resurrection so that he may be put in a shallow place in the Fire, with fire reaching his ankles and causing his brain to boil." (Sahih Bukhari Kitabur Riqaq)

.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 2.442 Narrated by Said bin Al Musaiyab from his father When the time of the death of Abu Talib approached, The Messenger of Allah (saws) went to him and found Abu Jahl bin Hisham and 'Abdullah bin Abi Umaiya bin Al-Mughira by his side. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said to Abu Talib, "O uncle! Say: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, a sentence with which I shall be a witness (i.e. argue) for you before Allah." Abu Jahl and 'Abdullah bin Abi Umaiya said, "O Abu Talib! Are you going to denounce the religion of Abdul Muttalib?" The Messenger of Allah (saws) kept on inviting Abu Talib to say it (i.e. 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah') while they (Abu Jahl and Abdullah) kept on repeating their statement till Abu Talib said as his last statement that he was on the religion of Abdul Muttalib and refused to say, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.' (Then the Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "I will keep on asking Allah's forgiveness for you unless I am forbidden (by Allah) to do so." So Allah revealed (the verse) concerning him (i.e. It is not fitting for the Prophet and those who believe that they should invoke (Allah) for forgiveness for pagans even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of the fire (9.113). Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.227 Narrated by Abdullah bin Al Harith bin Naufal Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib said, "O Messenger of Allah (saws)! Did you benefit Abu Talib with anything as he used to protect and take care of you, and used to become angry for you?" The Prophet (saws) said, "Yes, he is in a shallow place of Fire. But for me, he would have been in the lowest part of the Fire." Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 5.224 Narrated by Abu Said Al Khudri That he heard the Prophet (saws) when somebody mentioned his uncle (i.e. Abu Talib), saying, "Perhaps my intercession will be helpful to him on the Day of Resurrection so that he may be put in a shallow fire reaching only up to his ankles. His brain will boil from it." Sahih Muslim Hadith 413 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas The Prophet of Allah (saws) said: “Among the inhabitants of the Fire AbuTalib would have the least suffering, and he would be wearing two shoes (of Fire) which would boil his brain.”
