What's new

Pakistanis living in the UK higher unemployment

That can’t be true.
True or not doesn't matter.

He dreamed it up and did his mental masturbation to it. Job done.

Most? How is 8.7% most?

From the report itself.

The figures are old by now and we reaching the end of 2023. The pandemic had a major impact on British Pakistani folk as operated many small businesses hence the higher rate. You also have traditional gender roles where older women did/do not work. That's changing fast.

That being said it also shows the Indian rate nearly double that of the white majority group. Is that a sign of major underachievement?

Anyway the differences are marginal, hardly something to laugh about.

Can we edit please and issue him a warning.

1. It's misleading

Now the lies have been dealt with lets look into the truth.

1. Pakistani people are most likely to be self employed, ie working in their own businesses.
2. A lot of our women folk don't work whilst they have young children.

UK Pakistani's are the highest community of self employed people - ie those who work for themselves, or run their own businesses.

it depends. In Vancouver most Sikh people work as independent or business or work on occupations where cash payment is common. Like truck drivers. That don’t mean they are poor lmao.

Truck drivers make more money then most white Color job like accounting or IT.

Just another dumb *** discussion.

How is it, that for the last at least 10years every bit of news coming out of Pakistan or about Pakistanis is rock bottom negative!

About the country ...default, increasing poverty, exchange rate, floods, drought, bomb attacks, protests, inflation, population explosion, disappearances.....

About Pakistanis abroad.... Grooming, beggary, crime, honor killings, unemployment, people trafficking, drownings, harassment of turkish women, riots.....

Can someone please do something positive..like some Pakistani with a job and doesn't harass anyone, discovers a cure for cancer or Pakistan Government sets up a technocratic committee to find a solution for and then solves circular debt or agricultural productivity or free quality education for the first five years...just anything...any single thing...this is getting depressing....
I think there are a number of individual accomplishments that get buried in the avalanche of bad news, I used to know a couple of Pak families with school going children and they were no different from Indian or Chinese kids and families. May be because it was an affluent area and any family that git there automatically had a winning family formula.

Lately it does affect me a bit to think of what those kids may be feeling when such a torrent of shameful news keeps emanating about their parents' home land. Lovely kids they were/are

Most Pakistanis living in the UK are unemployed

A recent report by the House of Commons Library of the United Kingdom has revealed the unemployment rate of people...

A recent report by the House of Commons Library of the United Kingdom has revealed the unemployment rate of people of Pakistani origin is the highest among all ethnic groups in the country.

In the UK, the unemployment rate in October to December 2022 was 3.8%, with the white population at 3.1%, while the rate for all other races was 7.5%, but the rate for the population of Pakistani origin was the highest which is 8.7.

The organization’s report also stated that the highest employment rate is among youth and women.

People of Pakistani origin living in the UK are the country’s second largest minority. Their first arrival came after the Second World War when the reconstruction of a devastated Britain began and there was a great need for labour. Since then, a large number of Pakistanis have been making Britain their home.

The UK government also acknowledges the contribution of the Pakistani community to the development and construction of the country, but most Pakistanis prefer to stay with their own people, in their own areas, for cultural and traditional reasons.

The statistics published in the report indicates that there are about 1.4 million unemployed youth between the ages of 16 and 24 in the UK, which means that 20% of the youth of Pakistani origin are unemployed, which is the largest number.

In contrast, young people of Indian and Chinese origin are far ahead of other minorities in employment.

The unemployment rate among women is highest among women of Pakistani and Bangladeshi origin at around 11 percent.

British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Urdu spoke to the citizens of Pakistani origin in Alford, a busy area of east London, and asked them why Britons of Pakistani origin lags behind other communities in unemployment rates.

A citizen said that it might be due to lack of education. “When they come to this country, they may not be as educated, and education is very important to stay here and get ahead.”
Another citizen explained that the reason for this is that Pakistanis do not support their women to get jobs as much as other communities do.

A citizen of Pakistani origin even said that ‘we do not support each other’.

A woman said that when Pakistanis apply for a job, even if they get a call for an interview, they cannot speak English well in the interview.

Dardana Ansari also emphasized that while the government is talking about unemployment, it should understand the problem properly and solve it, but if this is not done, the problem will remain the same. will remain.’
It's not surprising, Pakistani women generally stay home which would explain why the % is higher than other nationalities.

A truck driver has the potential to earn a substantial income, sometimes even more than a doctor. However, societal perceptions in India often don't equate this with success or respect for truck drivers.

You mean the UK government hasn’t taken this data into account when compiling the data for unemployment?

South Asian people need to change there mindset.

I meet these two Indian post grad students, open there own dosa truck in Vancouver after getting laid off…they are happy and there business is booming. I go there often.

People should respect self employed people and anyone who works on manual labor. As long as you are not a lazy and waiting for handouts for social assistance it’s all good.

People should respect self employed people and anyone who works on manual labor.
The culture of respecting any form of labour and hard work doesn’t exist in the sub-continent. We judge everyone with the kind of work they do. A person is considered superior or inferior based on what work he does and what is the assessment of that work in our eyes.

In case English is a second language for you, the statistics you have cited do not mean what you say in the title. It just says Pakistani origin people have the highest rate of unemployment compared to other groups. That does not mean most of them are unemployed. In fact, it says 91.3% are employed.

If they are counting women than alot of pak families don't like their girls to work that would explain the difference

Good observation. I guess you can't beat whites in their own country.
