and it is a shame to PMLN who spends public money on full page advertisement for just signing MoU for adding 100MW into the power starved system where the shortfall is 7000 MW..

well done bro... action speaks louder than words...unlike Ishtihari Party .

No doubt this is the best post in this thread so far, very detailed

Thanks, it took me 2 - 3 hours to do R&D :P

I see encouraging efforts were made in Justice, Security, Health and Education sector. That's the most important issue of KPK so good to see that. The energy news you have mentioned, 95% of these news/outcome is the work of previous Government (PPP / ANP) and the current federal Government.

Yes, a couple of projects were ANP era projects which are completed in PTI's rule. However, there were several projects which had planning and feasibility done but they were halted for some reasons, PTI govt has restarted those projects: Two micro hydro power plants inaugurated: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government seeks to restart closed projects, says Imran | Business Recorder

And I've mentioned sufficient links to new projects which PTI's govt have started and funds have been approved. 1.2, 1.4, 1.5, 1.8, 1.9 for example are new projects started by PTI govt in past one year.

24MW hydropower project to bring progress to Mansehra - Newspaper - DAWN.COM This Jabori hydro project was started in ANP time, but after coming to power, PTI expedited the work on this project hence its completed and started working before time.

Gomal Zam dam however is current federal govt's project but was in collaboration with KPK govt.

It is good to know that KPK plans to build 365 small hydro projects in the next 10 years generating 25,760MW of electricity with 80% of internal funding as you claimed, but it cannot be true because it would require at least 55 - 70 billion dollars to fulfil this dream and the total budget of KPK for the next 10 years combined may not be as much. They definitely need loans or assistance from the Federal Government who would also take loan on their behalf.

Its a 3 phased project, with their respective budgets:

Rs12_zps587d1f83.jpg

Few excerpts:

Speaking on the occasion, PED Managing Director Bahadur Shah said according to the short-term plan, three hydro power projects worth Rs12 billion would be completed in three years. These projects, he said, would have a power capacity of 56 megawatts (MW).

Shah said the mid-term plan was for eight power projects worth Rs1.30 trillion, with a capacity of 626MW, to be completed in eight years. Similarly, in the long-term, PED would complete 18 power projects in the province over 10 years, costing Rs10.38 trillion, with a power production capacity of 25,760MW.

“356 localities have been earmarked for the construction of small hydropower units in the province, for which 80% of funds will be released by the K-P government while the remaining will be borne by the local population,” informed Shah. He added that a summary had been approved in this regard.

I just wrote a generalized statement in my original post to sum it up, my bad. :)

The building of shaukat khanum in peshawar. I believe that all of of the capitals and then big cities should have cancer hospitals and shaukat khanum is the only feasible option since the others havent even thought abt a hospital where state of the art medical assistance can be given for free to people. Not even close to it.

The tameer-e-school program. Its a great way to finance education in KPK as no matter what kind of budget you have you just cant focus it on building and maintaining schools all over the province since a good portion gets eaten by running govt colleges and universities. This will allow some more financial backing especially from rich donors both from the country and from outside the country which can be used to focus on increasing educational standards all over KPK.

The kicking out of QWP minister on the bases of Fake degree. First time in our history has somebody done that and IK needed all the alliance he could have gotten but he still stuck by his principles broke the alliance. It was a very good step.

The building of internal city transit system. This is a great step as all of our major cities need a mass transit system for the better transportation of the people. I hope that with it he would start a subway build too. We need such infra-developments and its a very very good step.

These three top it for me amongst all of the work he has done past year. It has only been a year so we cant expect soo much. Most of them will be projects that were just inaugurated or are being planned. It will become even more clearer as he enters his fourth year of govt.

Plus:

This is a great step towards better emergency services.

And KPK is also gonna equip its new Anti Terrorism Squat (SCU with helos and latest gadgets. :D Gonna be awesome.

There are areas where KPK is only province to have taken solid steps and other provinces are far behind.

You thoroughly deserve applause for that, no doubt your research did not go in vain.

I think there is hardly a project which we didn't know before, yes the good thing is PTI allowed the projects to be completed and the funding was not stopped. The feasibility work, construction and everything else had already been conducted for most of the projects, there has been few new projects in the pipeline that is also the projects for which Wapda had already completed the feasibility and it just need a will to kickstart. Good thing for PTI was they didn't play politics on energy issues so far.
Gomal Zam dam however is current federal govt's project but was in collaboration with KPK govt.

Few excerpts:

Quotes/figures

Pakistani journalists often has a habit of misquoting/mixing up the figures of billion and trillion, I am not sure if they meant 10 trillion rupees (around 100 billion dollars or 10 billion dollars). If that's 10 billion dollars, the figure is heavily underestimated, if it's 100 billion dollars the figure is acceptable in a sense if loads of dams for water storage and irrigation will be built alongside the power generation. But if it truly is 100 billion dollars then it is simply out of the question from the KPK budget alone, it has to be joint collaboration of Provincial, Federal and foreign funding from IMF/World Bank etc. I wish them best of luck as it will definitely put the economy on right track if we can build small and large dams within the next 10 years.

Also keep in mind that the projects you mentioned above, only Gomal Zam is relatively bigger dam with heavy investment but it still has a low potential of electricity generation, it's biggest advantage was the storage of water. One big project of Diamer Bhasha might be equivalent to hundreds of small dams but it does not take away the importance of building small dams.

PS: I think we are probably diverting from the real issue that is to compare the performance of each year.. but just wanted to highlight few points

@Aether I agree Sir, the thing is, KPK is water rich province so these small dams can be very important. They are cheap and cost effective and they can add up a lot in our national grid.

And the reason why most of these new projects in KPK looks familiar because these projects were decided long ago but are pending since ages because of corrupt political govts. In fact, the feasibility and planning of few projects is done years ago but no work ever started on these projects. Good that PTI govt is now restarting these important projects.

The good thing is, in the tussle of power, we foresee at least 30,000MW of electricity being added in the National grid by 2024.

That's 4500, 4300, 969 from Diamer-Bhasha, Dasu and Neelum-Jhelum hydropower projects with hopes of Bunji possibly also nearing completion if it does get started... and if it does.... thats another 7100 MW from Hydro taking the total figure close to 17,000MW and add another 9000MW from Coal, 1000MW from wind and Solar, 2000mw from Nuclear and then add small hydropower projects in KPK and G-B and the figure will easily exceed above 30,000mw. Even if either Bunji or Bhasha was never started, we should have added 30,000mw+ regardless. if PTI's plan successfully delivers, that's above 40k mw of electricity we are talking about. I think it would just be enough to fulfil our energy demands as that is likely to increase manyfold.

This is a great step towards better emergency services.

And KPK is also gonna equip its new Anti Terrorism Squat (SCU with helos and latest gadgets. :D Gonna be awesome.

There are areas where KPK is only province to have taken solid steps and other provinces are far behind.

These figures does not make sense at all, over 25.000mw from 350 small dams? You realize anything over 50mw comes under federal?

I don't know exact limits here, but most of these projects will be around 50mw more or less as they are small hydro projects. About 25,000 mw from these 350 odd small dams, see my Post #18 above or see complete article: K-P govt approves extensive energy plan – The Express Tribune for more details.

Looks line long term project spaning decades. Any dam under construction from the list? From Wapda 2013 report they have identified overall potential of 100.000mw including bigger and smaller dams in Pakistan.

how much time will it take to make them functional ??

There are three type of projects included in this plan.

Short Term - ready in next 3 years
Mid Term - ready in next 6 - 8 years
Long Term - ready in next 10 years

Real the link I shared for complete details or refer to Post # 18 for summary.
