That's great, but do I know you too? :D

Yes VCheng. You know me as ebonho elsewhere. :)

When do you get to the Super Duke 1290?

Probably too much bike for me.

Keeping my eyes and ears peeled for info on the currently being tested Indian-made 800 twin. Spy shots doing the rounds of it being put through its paces in Austria. Praying for an adventure avatar. The mountains beckon, and the Dukes egg shell wheels inspire no confidence for the rigors that terrain offers.

Too much bike? There is never such a thing! :D

The 1190 or the 1290 Super Adventure then?

Bhai you big shot doctor earning dollars in USA.

Me also big shot doctor, but earning rupees in India.

Will prefer to buy something made here, sold here, serviced here, and spares easily available here. Exotics get pretty old really quickly once something goes bad or you drop it.

Most Bullet 500 guys upgrade to the KTM 390.

Its a natural progression. Similar DNA.

Like Bullet guys and Safari.

KTM sounds funny..
We have an old enfield bike in my ancestral home, the one with gear shifter on right side. That old thing still works!!

Wow!!!
You met her??? You're lucky!
She died before I was born. :(

I repect her for her spunk, not many leaders in India had her kinda gravitas and charisma...Narendra Modi is the only other leader with similar traits. JMHO!
I am told i met her many times as a kid but i dont recall anything. I remember meeting her when I was 7 or 8 year old and i was really awe struck and mesmerized by her aura, charm & grace. Sad she was killed soon after and saddest no one clicked me with her.

Here is me on a friend's Tiger 1200.

These things are way too massive to have fun chucking around man. I'm 6 feet tall, 90 kilos, and it makes me look small.

Good power, sure. But the amount of bike up front (tank, shrouds, console, screen, etc.) totaly detaches you from the road, if you get what I mean.

And at 266 kilos (the Tiger) its way too heavy for the mountains. Especially water crossings and the more technical narrow, loose, rocky/slushy bits.

And God forbid you drop it ......

KTM is supported very well within India, is it not?

Yes, for technical offroad stuff, a lighter bike is preferable.

Only the ones they make here.

We don't get the 690s for instance, which I would really like to have bought (in place of the 390).

The two new twins, the 500 and the 800, are going to be made here in Pune. So they will be priced well, plus no issue with service, trouble shooting, and spares.

After riding a 45 bhp bike that weighs just 150 kilos, its really difficult going back to the 200+ kilo machines. Regardless of how much power they make.

Oh I see. Then you make a good point. Heck, I would be happy with an Enfield in that case. Just give me wheels and a track in the mountains. :D
