electric cars r way to go, they r more efficient and green. to let us understand the energy from 1 and a half gallon gas is enough for car to power for 250-300 miles. Internal combustion engine is inefficient . Hope batteries become better and range increases to make them more practical,
You do know that all Electrically charged cars take electricity from somewhere, right?
So basically, the car is then not polluting, but the additional burden on the power-plants, make them burn more fuel, meaning more pollution.
In countries like USA, India, Pakistan, China etc where most of power comes from Thermal units, like coal, oil or gas, that doesn't make sense.
However, if these countries were to replace the power source with Nuclear power plants, and you use that to charge the cars, you can one day achieve cars that don't pollute the atmosphere directly or indirectly.
Then there is this big issue of Batteries being made of heavy metals and their recycling.
Last not the least, the cost of rare-earth metals for electric motor magnets, most of which come from China, and China is readily cutting the output.
