17 July 2015
On the occasion of the Egyptian-US strategic dialogue scheduled for the end of this month
This was an analysis of Jeff Goodson on the situation in Egypt and relations with the United States on 1 July 2015
The writer referred to the deals that Egypt is taking away from America
Of course, he tried to encapsulate everything politically. Most analysis of the political situation in Egypt and relations with the United States.

In this paragraph he talks about the beginning of Egypt negotiations on the Mirage of the UAE:

Al-Sissi went elsewhere for arms. Egypt cut a $5.5 billion deal with France for Rafale fighter jets and began negotiations with the United Arab Emirates for Mirage 2000-9s. It also started negotiating a $3.5 billion arms deal with Russia, likely to include S-300 surface-to-air missiles, and planned joint naval drills".

@Gomig-21 and others

Where would the Mirage 2000-9 fit in in the current and projected EAF procurements?
It is called a mini Rafale because it has many components shared with the latter.. So will Egypt stop at 36 Rafale for now and get the 2k-9 as a stop gap till the Rafale F4 upgrade is ready?
Check this too:

Thanks, bro. They've been rumoring this since 2010, TBH. We were talking about it on the other forum in 2009.

30 of the UAE Mirages are older frames from 1989 BTW, not that much of a leap from the current 18 in the EAF if you ask me. The 2000-9 & 9D are 32 units in the UAEAF, so they're not all the upgraded 9 version just to be clear.

It does make sense if they do opt for the additional 12 Rafales and then add these with a full upgrade so they can be at their fullest potential. That would make the count of the French birds in the EAF at a total of 104 with 36 of those as Rafales. That's an excellent position to be in and closer to what I would like to see the numbers at, given i would prefer a total of at least 80 Rafales and no Mirages, but this is the next best option I suppose.

Now they'll need to double the MiG-35 count to get to our projected numbers.

. . . . .
Why not ask more from France too. M-2000 is a good machine.

Egypt gone mad it wants anything which sells in market

Who is Egypts enemy ? Israel ? No, Israel would eat them up within 72 hours.
Egypt is for my opinion armed by KSA only to become in future their remote controlled force and partner to dominate Africa.

Egypt is arming itself to protect its assets.. Natural gas in big quantities..read about the deals before making uneducated statements, all of them are half financed by Egypt and half from selling countries; France and Russia..
As for Usrael eating up Egypt you should also educate yourself on Egypt's capabilities.. before saying any idiocies again..

France does not have the M2K-9 most advanced version.. and that is what Egypt might get from the UAE..if it does not go for more than 36 Rafale..

You make a fool out of yourself anyway Israel is stronger than Turkey and Iran combined .

Don't worry I will show you facts, btw the (non) capability of Egypt Forces was shown in the past.

The following argument in NavalReview (Anti-IS alliance) is wrong, Egypt "sold" KSA some islands in the Red Sea.

"The answer to the question of purchase cost is that the ships have been paid for by Saudi Arabia for Egypt and that they are to be operated as part of a joint (sic: combined) force by the two countries. Their motivation for this venture is ostensibly a response to the threat posed by ISIL forces operating in Syria and Iraq."

Against whom will Egypt protect Gas ressources ?

Here are some facts, you can see that Egypt can't participate in arms race with own money.

In 2015, Egypt exported $27.7B and imported $76.4B, resulting in a negative trade balance of $48.8B. In 2015 the GDP of Egypt was $330B and its GDP per capita was $10.9k.
The top exports of Egypt are Crude Petroleum ($4.56B), Refined Petroleum ($1.01B), Insulated Wire ($988M), Video Displays($827M) and Gold ($744M), using the 1992 revision of the HS (Harmonized System) classification. Its top imports are Refined Petroleum ($5.99B), Wheat ($3.08B), Semi-Finished Iron ($2.49B), Cars ($2.48B) and Petroleum Gas ($2.34B).

This would be correct before purging Turkish army , but today Erdogan removed best kemalist and professional generals from Turkish army under the pretext of the coup and Gulen terror charges .

Well Egypt got close to 40 Billion dollars inflows from Abroad since 2016 .

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ip-kennedy-center-honors-to-avoid-distraction

1) Suez Canal generates close to 6-7 Billion dollars to Egypt per year , this is expected to increase to 13 Billion after first phase of East Porstaid project is completed where industrial zones and port size will be doubles.

2) Tourism generates close to 10 Billion dollars , last quarter tourism revenue tripled .
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...urism-revenue-triples-as-fx-crisis-fades-away

3) Remitiance from Egyptian workers and Egyptian companies operating abroad especially in the Gulf and Africa was close to 17 Billion .
https://dailynewsegypt.com/2017/08/09/first-goals-egypt-economy-reform-plan-met-says-bnp-paribas/

4) Egypt foreign reserves rose to 36 Billion and expected to continue to rise after devaluing the pound which result in reduction in imports and increase in Exports .

http://www.nasdaq.com/article/egypt...ln-highest-since-2011-uprising-20170801-01350

5) Most Egyptian military procurement from 1990 till 2010 were covered by American Aid including F-16 and Abram tanks procurement , this means the past 20 years the Egyptian army was basically saving money ready to be used at a specific time to replace aging Mig-21 and Mirage 5 . Many agreements were expected to be done between 2010-2012 but were delayed due to 2 revolution that took place and problems with MB between 2012-2013.

6) Egypt is building an offensive capability in order to deal with MB in Sudan in the future . Sudan has been in deep crises since they lost 80% of their Budget revenue from oil after south sudan independence . The government in Sudan could fall in any moment and Egypt might be forced to intervene in order to secure its water rights in the Nile and secure vital dams in Sudan from sabotage by any Terrorist attacks .

7) If the Nile Water negotiations do not work out and Egypt does not receive its expected share of the Nile then they will go to war with Sudan and support opposition groups against Ethiopia .

8) Israel is not Egypt's enemy , the main enemy is MB groups in Libya ( Egypt ally Haftar kicked them out of Eastern Libya) and Sudan in addition to their supporters in Qatar .

You are talking about the mistrals.. that is $1 billion, and KSA was negotiating for them before Egypt.. I am talking about the Rafale, Fremm, Gowind from France, Type 209 from Germany and the Russian deals.. you can not provide any proof other than Egypt is financing them at 50% and got credit from the selling part for the other 50%..anyway Egypt still has more that $20 billion to spend on weapons and ToT.. one can add the support of the Gulf states to that..
You have no facts to show me or any other person about Egyptian war capabilities..just empty opinions that you should keep to yourself to make your ego feel good..
And for your arrogance read this:
The prophet PBUH said in a Hadith: "When Allah gives you the Egyptian land, make a large army of the Egyptian men, they are the best soldiers on Earth..." and when Amro Asked Why he said:
"Because its people are in UNITY until Doomsday"...

OT: i can understand your fear from the Mirage-2000.. do you want me to elaborate or you know enough of what it did to Turkey in some confrontations..

The economic situation is frankly said " at the edge of Abyss".

Arms race can only function with a potent economy. Even Russia lowered its defence budget 25%.
Arguing with Hadids in a defence forum is mystic. Have a good day.
