Don't buy all the Israeli propaganda. Egyptian military performed admirably in 1973. If they had better AC at the time, Israel would not exist today. That's why USA wont give EAF anything with good BVR.

Egyptian Army did in operating SAMs. Air Force did zilch. Not a single Israeli jet shot down in air-to-air in either 67 or 73. In fact there is a famous shot of an Egyptian Mig 17 pilot accidentally landing on an Israeli base because pilot got disoriented on his strike mission.

And its not a matter of being outclassed based on equipment. Egyptian's had similar equipment as what Vietnamese had against the US Air Force and so similar adversary as what the Israelis were using.

It does come down to ability, aggressiveness, and tactics with universally not just the Egyptian but all Arab forces lacked against Israel.

None of this is Israeli propaganda, its a fact that anybody that follows air warfare would know.

And somehow they have cracked a nut that the most advanced Air Forces have not which is to operate multiple types of overlapping but expensive aircraft.

Qatar has money to blow and does it to offset balance of payments. How does Egypt afford it given that recently the financial aid from Gulf countries has dried up. US aid may pay for these F-15s but Egypt still had to fork out (likely more debt) for the $200M Rafales and the SU35s.
And you don't need 4 types of 4G jets to neutralize Libya that has no Air Fore.

EAF claim AFAIK was somewhere between 60 and 80 of the IAF jets, with over 20 stressed as confirmed by publishings from Helion & Co.
The claim of 60-80 was backed by the Soviet Union.
It’s the IDF/AF’a claim to be stated and globalized first, also forwarded by Shlomo Aloni’s books.
Egypt’s GDP has been in a rise with many attributes to the state, indeed: there are reports that Egypt hits the 500 billion USD mark in GDP in 2022, the IMF initially estimated over 400 USD billion in GDP. There is also the USAID.

Without modern BVR missiles, all these f15s, f16s, rafales are meaningless. J10C / Block3 thunders with Pl15 any day.

In desi terms it's like Land cruiser installed with a 9MM Pistol Vs a City equipped with RPGs and SMGs, Grenade launchers etc

Still i am happy that we don't have dumb officers in our Air Force. Basicly Egypt airforce does have 3 different fighters from 3 countries for now. Ad F15 means a lot of maintain challenge, F15 will be a expensive fighter to maintain. What will ad F15 to ther air force when you have Rafale, twin engine fighters?

Ignore the nationalists here. They are always making tall claims with little proof and put down especially Arab militaries. As a Pakistani I wish the best for my Egyptian brothers in their defence. I’m sure Egyptian airforce isn’t stupid and knows what it’s doing. These guys were raising questions why Pakistan bought J-10C and didn’t go full JF-17. Our air forces are professional and surely know what their doing!

(Also 119 K-8s!)

No BVR? There must be a few R-77s with the SU-35s and why would Rafales not come with BVR?
