Fact: I came to Pakistan and I haven't spent any money.
Why? Because nobody will let me. Seriously. Pakistan has the world's best hospitality, by a long shot. Anywhere I go in the world, I always insist on paying -- whether it be for dinners, gifts, taxi rides, experiences, you name it.
But the people here in Pakistan (aggressively) won't let me pay. It's insane!!

We treat foreigners like they came from heaven but we treat our own worse than dogs.

Give it some time and once we get adjusted to foreign tourists the fascination with even them will be gone.

Through backpackers with shoe string budget or no budget at all, Pakistan will not be earning any income through such tourism, will be earning lots of goodwill and praise for hospitality though.

Most of the tourism income in say Malaysia in beach resorts or in Turkey, Spain is mostly through high end medium to big spenders. That kind of tourism need some real infra and management.

As per our culture and deen, Guest is a blessing. A guest brings his own share with him and increases ours as well. A guest is not a burden but an indication that Allah is pleased with us.

We the Pakistanis are hospitable and we have to keep being ourselves, instead of lowering ourselves just because others don't meet our expectations...

Would you do that for EVERY tourist?

This is not a rare occurrence. There are various instances of tourists not being charged. There is one where the woman was so humbled she returned years later and gave a picture to the man for his hospitality. I don't think this happens at every shop with every tourist but it is not rare.

This is very smart move if you actually look at it locals are welcoming foreign tourist when they coming in bulk it might not be the same but for now they oepn their hearts for tourist who are coming to this part of the world when propaganda in world that pakistan is dangerous which absoulitly rubbish.
We treat same way when indian visit if you come to Pakistan you might get the same treat hopfully.

We as muslims & pakistnis are a generous people. i reality we are giving respect to those who took time, money & energy out of their lives to come see us. nothing expected in return but im sure all these ppl will pay it forward so someone else is bound to benefit. its teh real face and value of humankind.
YOu should read up on them indian folks who came to lahore for cricket match a while back and also this bangla deshi girl who visited pakistan.
