Why is Everything FREE in Pakistan?! - traveler Drew Binsky

I was stating the condition of our society. No one miss understood you. Chill
Pakistanis are overall a positive nation but we have our weaknesses, many due to lack of education, exposure & good governance. Up to so far, things are moving in the right direction.
I'm in favour of tourism as an industry but for that we need to develop a certain culture.. like being polite (we already are but it can be improved)...I share my experience in Zurich, the pretty female host at reception of Savoy hotel welcomed us with a smile and everything ..which had a good impression on us (me & my wife) but the hotel was charging us 600 euros per night. Similarly, at all places we were welcomed but got charged a hefty price ... be it a pizza or coffee etc.. So these nations know how to make money from tourists

BTW Pakistanis ranks in top four nation when it comes to philanthropy and it is all for local people and for Pakistani people, take the case of Edhi, Adeeb Rizvi others
That's true... we have a lot of positive traits as a nation. We just need to focus on cleanliness and little bit more on tolerance ... like Malaysia, or central Asian states.. very clean

Bro I dont know about other cities but in Karachi there are numerous places where quantity of free food being served is higher than hungry people ...
I heard about this especially the Memon community that they often offer a lot free food to the poor :) ..Abdul Satter Edhi was also Memon. :)

This is not just limited to memons ...There are lot of other trust who have these services... In terms of food Alamgir is the largest ... There might be soem exception but by and large Pakistan is very hopitable country ...

Real issue is in villages where landlords own the land and do not care about the people ... These are same landlord that sold loyalty to britishers ... What else we can expect from them

Great to know.. I have lived in Karachi briefly and my experience was excellent but I was living in relatively posh area (DHA). However, I felt the need for cleanliness ..a lot ..like aaaaa loooooottttt

Consider it as the initial 'free sample' a free sachet of a particular product offered as a marketing tactic...once people are hooked to the product one can charge them handsomely, this is a great marketing strategy by the Pakistani people to promote Pakistan tourism...and let people come to Pakistan(this is just pun, a serious one).

Breaks the bad stereotypes associated with Pakistan like a war torn country, lawless and jihadis on the streets and killing visitors.

Yes talking about the hospitality, it in ingrained in the value system, the Mehman Nawazi and the importance of a mehman...can't be changed.

Backpackers with shoe string budget cannot be earning lots of money for Pakistan, yes can earn lots of goodwill and praise for hospitality, and for big money from tourism one need to develop the infra and improve the management, as an industry...for the start this is good.

Entire post. Nailed it.
Yes, these are 'free samples' building the goodwill. And also not most of the foreigners get free stuff anyway. Drew seems a particularly humble guy.

poor pakistanis, they don't understand what tourism means. on one hand, PM is trying to make it easier for tourists to visit pakistan and on the other hand "hospitable" pakistanis are giving away their wares for free. We don't need free loaders to visit pakistan. we need tourists to spend money and yes a lot of it. Keep your "hospitality" for your nearest and dearest ones.

cuz we have good people who respect guests and they always care just like their kins

why is the PM imposing new lifesytle on these people?
They are naturally this way. You cannot force a way of living on these people.

PM is stubborn and arrogant and insists that only tourism is the right way. Thats just BS and 1970s.

We do not want to earn this way. The potential is there and natural beauty is there, people will always come to Pakistan for tourism. We do not need to make it our living.

Otherwise if you need revenue, be like Bangladesh, Ecaudor and Thailand. Its bad enough as it is with child pornography ring running wild and serial killers on the loose.

We are not baniya people who sit on the road with our shops opened so that one gora guy passing by gives us money. Take your fascism and keep it in Britain.

But I don't think that our people are really thinking in this smart way..

Everything is free because we have been servants of goras. we are shocked to see a white man amongst us who happens to be a foreigner. Slave mentality
