Can anyone inform us about the capability of Israel to counter LHD in the eastern Mediterranean Sea?
"Israel can respond with the
less costly augmentation of its anti-access and area-denial capabilities."
@cabatli_53 @Neptune @ozi2000 or other members who know something about it.
I know that article. That sentence was to satisfy the citizens. Besides, IDF is well aware of the threat.
Currently the Israeli Navy composes by Corvettes, Missile boats, FACs and submarines. AFAIK, the main equipment in service of IDF-Navy are:
Mk32 and Mk46 torpedoes and missiles RGM-84/UGM-84 Harpoon and IAI Gabriel. These equipment cannot comfort with the fleet escorting our LHD.
In future IDF plans to aquire MEKO-100 multipurpose frigates which have a displacement of 2,200 tonnes. There's a rule in naval warfare. A multipurpose frigate always has it's warfare capabilities reduced since it's a multipurpose frigate.
Their only sole strike capability against TNF is their Dolphin-class submarines. But they only have 3 whereas TNF poses 13 Type209/1400 submarines (5 of them are 1200 variant). Add the upcoming AIP submarines.
After TCG Levent's commission, it'll be a detachment of the Battle Fleet Command. It'll be escorted by a fleet similar to that of USN's CSGs or French Navy's Force d'Action Navale.
LHD will be escorted by a task force composed with advanced AAW, ASW and ASuW capabilities. TF-2000, TF-100 and Type-214 AIP will be the main actors of this so planned fleet. In addition; TF-2000 will be armed with Laser CIWS and Atmaca anti-ship missile which will have land attack capability as well. She'll have several advanced countermeasures&decoys against submarines, thanks to Aselsan. Type 214 will be armed with smart heavy torpedo AKYA. AAW capability of the fleet will be provided by Hisar-O and RIM-161 SM-3; if not, RIM-156B SM-2ER Block IV. CAFRAD and AAW missiles will be a game changer. Israel will lose air force advantage against TF-2000.
We'll never be enemies. Both countries don't have the guts to attack each other.
As you see that article is just to satisfy the readers from Greece, Egypt, Israel. Rather than that the main question should be, what will be TNF's strategy against the three countries I mentioned in East Mediterranean since they are going to combine their navies in the opens of Cyprus.
