Tell that to uneducated people who opt for everything but those things but rather focus on superfcial things like punishments, beard
Counts and burqa culture which is not indigenous to Pakistan at all but was imported from Afghanistan and Saudi

Aren't many existing laws and legal frameworks in Pakistan already said to be compliant with Islamic tenets? Is the demand for Sharia law simply a demand for an increase in the no. of such laws or a totalitarian idea that only sharia should be employed like Anjem Choudary's demand for eg.?

Yes Sir Shariah is the law for Muslims and nuclear park shariah is not some ones private things its is clear Sir and it will be implemented either by governments or by people themselves who are ready sacrifice anything for it

Who are ready to blow others with bombs until there is no opposition left

this is what seriously concerns me..there are many crypto-sharia4 followers among Pakistan overseas diaspora!

muslims and christians must realise tht majority of hindus dont give a hoot abt their religion.i wont be offended if anyone wants to give me a lecture on hinduism.i think ppl wld point out caste and untouchability but no educated hindu wld ever support such inhuman practices.If anyone wants to give lecture on hinduism they are more than welcome but only in relevant thread.

What's the difference and what is the basis for that difference?

The same as that between Stalin's Communism & the progressive Democratic Socialism that was always espoused by most Leftists Intellectuals !

@Dillinger

Jusrisprudence all over the world is derived from morality which itself is derived from religion. Religion and the state are inseperable,regardless of where you are.

There is a difference between derivation- in which many elements may be modified and/or moderated- and basing the legal framework and jurisprudence on just religious tenets without any modern interpretation- contrary to popular belief many religious tenets are not eternal but in reality rather anachronistic.

So are we talking of a moderated and more modern form of Sharia which retains certain socialist concepts like zakat but minus the capital punishment on adultery or the original and extant version?

They are indeed.

But making it official makes things worse. Nothing wrong with the religion or the laws; just with politics there are too many people with self interest involved, so someone is bound to misuse this.

But if educated and reasonable people in government are guaranteed, then I guess it can work :)

I do not understand why people are arguing now between iqbal and taliban shariah? There is only one shariah and it is written down in Quran and SUnnah...any deviation by different interpretation is considered man made not god sent. These war of interpretations are what sow confusion and chaos. Let us stick to official text and decide if that is possible to implement or not!
