Do India's Space Program and Mars Mission Make Sense?

People who can't see their problems need to be told to help them.

Indians do not see the poverty, hunger, disease, poor education and lack of sanitation that surround them everywhere in their country. That's what makes India home to the world's largest and most deprived population.

Ignore him please.

He knows not, what man must do.
He knows, only what man must whine about.

There is a saying in Hindi: par updesh kushal bahutere.... meaning...dosre ko gyan batne main bada maza ata hai....abe apne ghar ki socho....Hindustan ko jahan pahunchna hai ..pahunch jayega.

Riaz Bhai

you lost my respect on this thread.

So childish in nature.

Sometimes you have to think beyond this poverty $hit in order to get rid of it.

you think British would have been richer had they remained confined to British isles while totally focused on poor people?

Heck no!

you become rich by exploring this universe.

Please learn some lesson from history.

Apparently, you have not heard of the historic nature of the Industrial Revolution that began with renaissance and education of the people in Europe, not by government spending extravagantly on useless programs.

Nice color chart

But mars mission of India is successful

So what now?

Mars mission will not solve any of India's basic problems. If anything, India's space program distracts attention and diverts resources from India's real problems of lack of social sector development in education, health care, nutrition and infrastructure.

@RiazHaq reminds me of a door to door salesman who is so desperate to sell his products! @WebMaster : Its great generosity from your part, giving this man an excellent platform to publicize his blog.

If you remove your blinders and pay attention to my posts, you might end up getting better educated about your own country and the world.

India is way above pakistan in Health spending per capita. India spends $62 while pak spends $40 per capita. that is why india is free of polio while pakistan has the dubious distinction of being the only country in the world to be polio effected.

@RiazHaq So many people have read and commented on this but not one person agrees with you. Not even our Pakistani friends. I think its time for you to stop repeating the same thing over and over again. What is the point? Yes we have poverty but do you really think that our government is not doing anything? despite our population growth poverty has reduced in India from 56% in 1970s to 35% in 1993.

Direct health spending alone doesn't make you healthy.

The environment and hygiene are a big part of it. That's where India fares among the worst.

Haq's Musings: Study Finds India's Air Most Toxic in the World

Given low levels of India's development at this stage, its priorities should be as follows:

1. Feed its people. India is currently ranked along with sub-Saharan African nations on world hunger charts.

2. Build toilets to save its people from early death. India leads the world in open defecation and premature deaths.

3. Improve the quality of education. India's kids rank near bottom on international tests.

4. Improve the lives of 60% of Indians who engage in farming. Indian farmers are committing suicides at a rate of one every 30 minutes.

@RiazHaq : Can you give me answers of question, which i stated earlier.

Or you created this thread for your own chants?
