Disappointment at Saarc as Pakistan blocks 3 key connectivity agreements

SAARC is all about India and it's influence on other states. We should ditch this project completely and just focus on Middle East and Central Asia. Its better strategically positioned and it is energy rich. Both Pakistan and China need to develop their economic corridor as planned and need to engage Afghanistan.

I think It's better off that Pakistan, China and Afghanistan to cooperate on the economic corridor and India just want to use SAARC to propose a cheap solution for itself about this 3 connectivites. Pakistan hold the key future of India to easy and quick access to Afghanistan and Central Asia, unless India is willing to give up Kashmire as exchange for cooperation.

Two problems
1 Himalayan roads are prone to landslides and limited due to geography.
2 wakhan corridor is controlled by northern alliance.

Anyhow India would get the connectivity it wants one way or another.

Sea or Air is not ruled out. Maybe just a little more expensive. But remember India's loss is NOT Pakistan's gain.

Infact India's loss here is also Pakistan's loss. but seems Pakistan is more concerned about India then itself.

Modi is clearly all out for trade and investments and improving the lifes of people in South Asia. But Pakistan with its negative mindset playing spoilsports. But I am sure Modi would find a way around Pakistan to develop and connect with rest of SA if it's the only option left.

Boo hoo
we might not be able to trade with Nepal
yup big loss for us !!!
Now again why should we allow india excess to Afghanistan and the rest of Central Asia?

The BMIC corridor is going to go ahead. Let's see how that works out.

Thankfully the motor vehicle pact have initiated with rest of the interesting parties including Nepal, BD, Lanka, Bhutan..

Pakistan opted out stating having issues with "internal process".....whatever that is.

That just means that the Bosses aka "Khakis" have not allowed it. Apart from what other "internal process" is there in Nawaz Sharif's Govt.?

Also think that most of the businesses in Pak are owned by PA.

So if they want to protect their inefficient industry from foreign competition, it may well be just to save their own pockets.

Who cares about Pak economy.

Start with Cement and Cotton Yarn. Your textile industry is all but dead anyway.

Weaker, industry should be allowed to die out stronger players will survive and strive. Energy shortages and and cost of energy is Way too high in Pakistan for the textile or any other industry to compete worldwide.

All industries need to be updated and upgraded but unfortunately this was never envisaged in Pakistan once it was nationalised. Today all the industries are lacking the latest equipment and hence suffer losses. Energy crises is not alone the major factor in loss of profit. If this was the case then why other industries are suffering Like Stealmill, PIA, KESC. PTCL was infact profit making at the time it was sold.

Evidence to support that claim? Statistics in terms of revenue generated, market share etc.

BBC - Pakistan army runs 55 Businesses!!!!! :D> (just read Pakistani poster comments about PA on this forum. Shocking)

Mr Iqbal told the Senate in a written reply that these businesses included fertilizer and sugar factories. The army also has business interests in the energy and banking sectors, and in leasing, insurance, travel, pharmacies, gas stations, security and textiles, among others.

Seems like even Tata does not have business interests in so many diversified fields. Maybe no group in the world.

The below is from a Pakistani poster on a blog word by word (I admit the below is not a link. but wow if true):

"
GOne are the days when we wud be proud of our army
and the armymen itself used to take pride in their profession but now they r more interested in their retirement benifits thts why pak army today
owns

1)- Biggest group of consumer goods industries belonging to Fauji foundation
2)- A major chunk of banking sector in the name of Askari banks
3)- Has the greatest bites in technical education and has established universities like NUST, Air university, Bahria university for engineering students
Army medical college & Fauji medical college
NUML for management sciences
4)- Army is the biggest land lord of pakistan which has its own farm lands in every division of Pakistan whr agriculture is practiced

Pakistan does not want peace on India's terms. Forced peace is no peace at all.

Can you please elaborate what is the peace at india's term? What is forced peace? It is indian stand that cross border terrorism must be stopped to have a meaningful dialogue.
