Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation visited Pakistan

Colonel General Alexander V. Fomin, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation visited Pakistan and called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at GHQ, today.

Regional security situation and matters of mutual interest including enhancement of bilateral defence and security cooperation were discussed.

The Deputy Minister expressed his appreciation for Pakistan Army’s achievements against terrorism and expressed requirement of greater cooperative and collaborative approach among global community to defeat extremism.

Unfortunately, no one is being invited. I would have loved to see some foreign dignitaries, would have been a perfect start and launching pad for active international diplomacy. I hope we will catch up though and it will all start by appointing a foreign minister, something that we were missing for some years now. God how pathetic it really was!!!

Imran Khan is here to play something big. What I am hearing is that he is interested in pursuing Kashmir issue in more active manner which would lead to more tensions with India.

But it makes complete sense for him to do that. I think he will pursue a carrots and stick kind of policy, calling India to the table while pursuing a solution for Kashmir. I think he would have army's support in that.
