so you focus on IPL, we'll focus on developing PPL.


In a country of 180 million (many of them fanatical fans of cricket) with a dynamic and lucrative private sector, there's no reason why Pakistan can't have it's own Premier League.

PS: Not to forget American/Pakistani business tycoon "Shahid Karim" was also interested in IPL-like PPL in Pakistan. He would also buy one franchise if opportunity is given to him

its not that easy to ape India everywhere..concept of PPL is no diffenent than proposed Bangla PL....but who will pay millions of dollars??? does PCB have enough cash source to buy players like Sachin, Dhoni, Warne, Murli..etc ..etc... stupid news!

pakistanis will have to be extra clever to arrange such an event because we all know what india did to srilankan team, it will be another chance to give humiliation and label taliban

so need ISI and entire security personnel to guard the event, because if successful pakistan will be opened for all sorts of business

event will be organised in such time that all players are available and have no national duty to hinder, so money what ever offered will be enough, btw the prime purpose is to organise a competitive event not necessarily based on IPL, it should show quality cricket

So who would be the companies/people interested in buying the teams?

my guess is Indus motors might be a strong contender, then some rich people, like Hashwani or someone like that. Any guesses?

Who said PPL is trying to compete with IPL? Zaka Ashraf has made it clear that PPL is being organized to bring back international cricket in Pakistan. Which means PPl will be played in Pakistan and most likely foreign players will be present. Compared with previous years, the security situation in Pakistan has greatly improved. When was the last time major cities in Sindh and Punjab were hit by a bomb blast? Except for Peshawar and Quetta all the major cities in Pakistan are safe enough to host international cricket but again its a gamble.
If major companies take ownership of the different teams then definitely PPL can become a big cash league. With the right amount of marketing and well known foreign players, PPL can become successful.
I think Zaka Ashraf can actually do something big for Pakistani cricket, he's really ambitious.
It's just the security situation that is going to be tough to overcome.

Geo-Jang group might be a toughie, because then the TV rights thing , right get entangled in that, that a monopoly is being created by Geo group on the tv coverage contracts.
