Commander: Iran Building Exclusive Anti-Armored Missile Launcher

TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of the Iranian Ground Force Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari announced that the country's experts are working on a unique project to produce an advanced anti-armored missile launcher.
"Today, a type of anti-armored missile launcher is being built which is considered as an exclusive project and can provide the Ground Force with unique capabilities in area of anti-armored (weapons)," General Heidari told reporters on Saturday.

"This anti-armored system is a guided missile", he explained, adding that some good news will be revealed about the project on Army Day (April 18).

His remarks came days after Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami underlined that his country has gained self-sufficiency in producing different types of arms and military equipment to defend itself against any foreign aggression.

"Today, we have reached many aspects of independence and we provide our defensive needs in all fields," General Hatami said, addressing a forum in Tehran on Wednesday.

"Wherever we need to change or enhance our defense achievements, we are able to turn it into a new product and use it," he added.

General Hatami also underscored Iran's sustainable security in the region, adding, "Thanks God, our country enjoys full security in a region full of insecurities."

Iranian defense ministry in a ceremony last Tuesday unveiled a new home-made propulsion system for high-speed vessels with a rotating shaft and 1,800 seahorse power.

"The most important capability of this propulsion system is that it is equipped with automatic guiding system," Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Qassem Taqizadeh said, addressing the ceremony.

I think the priority for any Iranian Defense minister in the next decade should be addressing IRIAF shortcomings with various types of domestically built manned and unmanned aircraft & cruise missiles

I think building an Iranian versions of the SDB is far more important than building yet another ATGM

Whats the point in spending millions of dollars on research for SDB when we wont even use it? We already have millions of missiles in case of a worse case scenario. What we need is SSM, ATGM, MPV and more firepower in general for our proxies in case of a future conflict with Israel.

What we should focus most on at the moment is powerful fast and mobile SAM

Fact is most smart countries in the world invest BILLIONS to build new and advanced weapon systems so they NEVER have to use them! That's the whole point of having a "DEFENSE" Industry!

And in most countries the development of a countries Science and Technology is directly linked to their Defense Industry and the more advanced a countries defense industry is the more advanced a countries civilian products will also be.

And people that think Iran doesn't need to spend Billions in the development of new weapons are people with limited knowledge of the world!

Learn to read, I said I'm against spending money on SDB research not on weapons in general.

We dont have a powerful airforce, we are never going to have a powerful airforce, and even if we did have a competent airforce it would still be no match for other countries.

The Iranian copy of the israeli Spike would be one candidate albeit this would likely be a IRGC owned project.

A candidate for a really revolutionary AT system would be a system like the LOSAT/CKEM, a guided variant of it. It would be the worlds first operational KE ATGM and would be able to kill virtually any known tank. However, the army is not really renowned for developing revolutionary new weapons. But anyway they showed something (CGI) in the last days that would fit into the description of such a system...

Yeah Iran definitely copies, but theirs no shame in copying what the leading arms manufacturers do. You gotta study & copy from the best.
