CM-400AKG: Pakistan's supersonic carrier killer

@RAMPAGE In military terminology, a nuclear
warhead detonated hundreds of kilometers above the Earth's surface is known as a high-
altitude electromagnetic pulse
(HEMP) device. Typically the HEMP
device produces the EMP as its primary damage mechanism. The nuclear device does this by producing gamma rays, which in turn are converted into EMP in
the mid- stratosphere over a wide area within line of sight to the detonation.

What do you think will happen if you blast a sub kiloton warhead over a formation of invading Indian naval column made up of several combat ships and an Air craft carrier?

Vehicle's range can be increased, what matters is speed, altitude, survivability and point of detonation.

exactly ! than again , how do plan to use it to generate an emp ?

EMP is a "consequence of an atomic blast", affects of an EMP become devastating when a device is exploded mid air, usually on a high altitude which turns the nuclear blast energy into a powerful beam of electromagnetic pulse spreading in the stratosphere, frying every electronic device in its range.

nothing buddy because the electronic equipment onboard is made to resist electronic warfare !

no it cannot be increased without changing the engine or the warhead and u need a long range missile to generate an emp !

No credible counter EMP technology exists anywhere in the world, only countermeasures exist using hardened electronics which aren't effective. It depends on the voltage generated by an EMP blast, which can generate EMP measuring into millions of volts, there are no electronics that can resist such a high voltage. The best EMP protected building in the world is NORAD's underground bunker built under a mountain, which is covered with metal cloak designed to deviate most amount of absorbed voltage into the ground instead of into the building, however it is far from being totally protected. During this process the flood of electrons interact with the Earth's magnetic field to create a fluctuating electric current, which induces a powerful magnetic field. The resulting electromagnetic pulse induces intense electrical currents in conductive materials over a wide area

If any such device with controlled output is exploded over a Naval formation, most of those vessels will be hardly anything but floating targets.

This is how it works.

It can disable a battle group if the electronics are not shielded enough!

Range is not the concern, altitude is & Nasr with its current capability can reach the altitude needed to create an EMP affect. It can even be achieved by a large hydrogen balloon. However blasting a nuclear device is not the only way for creating an EMP, there are other non nuclear EMP technologies being researched including in Pakistan.

They will turn into floating pieces of metal. All that is available today is hardened electronics which only provide a limited protection.

well thats the problem , right there !

60 km is enough altitude ? :what: btw i asked u if pakistan and s.korea had some kind of deal to coproduce ERA ?

Miniature tactical nukes are able to create the controlled affect. It is particularly effective in the open seas environment as any such EMP strike will not, affect civilian electronic infrastructure, unless you want to take the whole continent back to stone age.

Nasr is just a vehicle, EMP is generated as a result of a Nuclear blast mid air, usually on a high altitude.

if even EMP is produced will it not pollute the seas and what about radioactive edfects on sea fish and organisms??
I will never go fot it……
yeah Babur cruise missile versions fired from ships and subs are under development with pin point accuracy but I doubt its role as antiship……
maybe for stationary targets like carriers but its speed makes it rasy target to counter……

60 km is enough altitude ? :what:

60kms is the RANGE, altitude needed is 30KM for a continental EMP strike. For tactical EMP strike altitude is lower than that.

btw i asked u if pakistan and s.korea had some kind of deal to coproduce ERA ?

No idea.

No idea.

You want a nuclear war? It is not about tactical nukes or strategic nukes...as soon as one explodes there will be an all out nuclear war.

Pakistan does not have EMP weapons, Indian OTOH have at least limited EMP Protection, it will work against every EMP blasts except very high tech and powerful bombs such as American.

@Aeronaut are you sure about the detonation altitude for EMP generation? Because last time I heard it had to be hundreds of kilometers high so that the neutrons could react with the upper atmospheric layer or something like that.

Nuclear weapons are known to be used to generate EMPs by high-altitude air-bursts.
