CII opposes naming QAU physics centre after Dr Abdus Salam

Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani, on Thursday, decried the proposal to rename the Quaid-i-Azam University’s (QAU) physics centre after Professor Abdus Salam.

The council discussed the proposal after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif forwarded a summary to President Mamnoon Hussain of his approval to rename the National Centre for Physics at QAU the “Professor Abdus Salam Centre for Physics”.

Addressing a press conference after the council’s meeting, the CII chairman said changing the department’s name would not set the right precedent.

“We have concerns over the change of its [physics centre’s] name as it was earlier named to honour Dr Riaz,” said Sherani, but declined to offer any reason for the opposition.

The council discussed the issues days after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif forwarded a summary to President Mamnoon Hussain for his approval to rename the National Centre for Physics at QAU the “Professor Abdus Salam Centre for Physics”.

Sherani was also asked about the renaming of other roads and institutions but he kept mum.

Nuclear physicist and Pakistan’s first Nobel laureate Professor Abdus Salam hailed from the country’s Ahmedi community and he became the first Pakistani to bag Nobel Prize in 1979 owing to his services in the field of Physics.

And all these commitments did not go well with each other. It was clear from the beginning that he was a man of exceptional ability. Initially, he was quite a liberal person. I am told he used to have wine and was rather fond of beautiful women. When he achieved a level of excellence, he was greatly respected throughout the Western world. Prime Ministers wanted to meet him even before he received his Nobel Prize in 1974.

I agree to the extant that he was a good scientist and won a Noble prize. My post is for people who declare that his self-imposed exile had no linked with his religious believes and dont recognize his commitment towards Qadyani movement.

Science is science. Does not matter what religion, creed, country, skin colour an individual who excels in science comes from. In the context of science he should be appreciated for his caliber, and without a doubt, Abdus Salam is a giant when it comes to science in Pakistan. Therefore naming a physics centre after him makes perfect sense.

بلکہ یہ الفاظ معروف سائنسدان اور قائداعظم یونیورسٹی میں کبھی لیفٹ اورا ب سیکولر، لبرل ازم اور الحاد کے روح رواں جناب’ پرویز ہودبھائی‘ کی کہانی سے جوں کے توں لیے گئے ہیں، جو انہوں نے ایک انٹرویو کے دوران بتائی تھی (جسے معروف کالم نگار عامر ہاشم خاکوانی صاحب سمیت کئی پاکستانیوں نے اپنی فیس بک وال پر شیئر بھی کیا تھا، ادریس آزادصاحب کا ترجمہ کردہ یہ پورا انٹرویو ویسے پڑھنےکی چیز ہے لیکن ہم مجبوراً صرف ڈاکٹر عبدالسلام صاحب کے تذکرے والے حصے تک محدود رہے)

اس میں ’پرویز ہود بھائی‘ نے یہ بھی کہا تھا کہ’ ’میرا اور ان کا تعلق 1974ء میں ان کے ملک چھوڑنے کے10 برس بعد (1984ء میں) شروع ہوا، جو ان کی موت تک جاری رہا، وہ (ڈاکٹر عبدالسلام صاحب) شروع میں بہت لبرل آدمی تھے، شراب اور خوبصورت خواتین کے شیدائی بھی تھے، پھر جب انہیں ایک خاص سطح کا مقام مل گیا اور’مغرب‘ میں اُن کی عزت بہت زیادہ بڑھ گئی، یہاں تک کہ ابھی اُنہیں 1974ء میں، نوبل پرائز بھی نہیں ملا تھا، وہ اچانک ایک ایسے شخص سے جو کہ مذہبی مزاج کا نہیں تھا، ایک ایسے شخص میں تبدیل ہوگئے، جو تیز رفتاری کے ساتھ مذہب میں پھنستا چلا جارہا تھا اور یوں بالآخر وہ ’تحریک ِاحمدیت‘ کے ایک انتہائی دقیانوسی قسم کے سپاہی بن کر رہ گئے‘‘۔

آپ سمجھ رہے ہوں گے کہ بات ختم، نہیں ہم آپ کو پرویز ہود بھائی کی کہانی سے مزید کچھ اور بھی بتانا چاہتے ہیں، جس میں انہوں نے ڈاکٹر صاحب کے متعلق کہا کہ ’ ڈاکٹر عبدالسلام غیر جانبدار انسان نہیں تھے کیونکہ وہ احمدیوں کی حمایت کرتے تھے، وہ چاہتے تھے کہ احمدی طاقت میں آجائیں‘۔

ان تمام باتوں کے بعد یہ سمجھاجائے کہ امریکیوں کو پاکستان کی ایٹمی تنصیبات کی معلومات پہلے سے کیسے مل گئی؟ یقینا اس میں انصار عباسی یا ان کے فکری رہنماؤں کو تو مورد الزام نہیں ٹھہرایا جاسکتا، کیونکہ انہیں تو تھیوریٹکل فزکس، کوانٹم فزکس اور ایٹمی ہتھیاروں کی تیاری میں استعمال ہونے والے مواد کا کیا پتہ ہوگا؟ ان کے بارے میں تو یہ رائے زبان زد عام ہوچکی ہے کہ وہ سادہ سی سائنس بھی نہیں سمجھ پاتے تھے، اس بات کو ہی تو ہمارے اہل دانش (سیکولر) ان کی جہالت اور پاکستان کی پسماندگی کی وجہ قرار دیتے نہیں تھکتے۔

تو پھر؟ یہ سوالیہ نشان نہیں اس بات کی سچائی کی طرف اشارہ ہے کہ امریکیوں تک یہ بات کسی راز دار نے ہی پہنچائی ہوگی، جو اس بات کو جانتا تھا، مگر ملک سے ناراض تھا، جس کی پہلی ترجیح یقینا ملک نہیں اپنا مذہبی عقیدہ تھا، اور ملک نے اس عقیدے کے حاملین کو اقلیت قرار دےدیا تھا۔ کیا یہ وجہ بھی دقیانوسی قرار پائے گی؟

کسی کو اگر انصار عباسی صاحب کی تحریر روایتی تنگ نظری سے عبارت لگتی ہے تو لگے، مگر اس تحریر میں ایک اور بھی تصنیف کا ذکر کیا گیا ہےکہ ’محمد متین خالد صاحب کی ایک تصنیف کے مطابق قادیانیوں کو غیر مسلم قرار دیے جانے کے فیصلہ کے کچھ عرصہ بعد بھٹو صاحب کے دور میں ہی ایک سائنس کانفرنس کا انعقاد کیا گیا، جس میں ڈاکٹر عبدالسلام کو بھی مدعو کیا گیا۔ دعوت نامہ جب ڈاکٹر عبدالسلام کے پاس پہنچا تو انہوں نے کارڈ پر مندرجہ ذیل ریمارکس لکھ کر وزیر اعظم سیکرٹریٹ کو واپس بھیج دیا: “I do not want to set foot on this accursed land untill the Constitutional amendment is withdrawn.” جناب بھٹو صاحب نے جب یہ ریمارکس پڑھے تو غصے سے ان کا چہرہ سرخ ہو گیا اور انہوں نے اسی وقت سیکرٹری اسٹیبلشمنٹ کو ڈاکٹر عبدالسلام کو وزیر اعظم کے سائنسی مشیر کی حیثیت سے برطرف کرنے کا حکم دیا ‘۔ اب کہا جائے کہ جی سائنسی مشیر کی حیثیت سے برطرفی کے احکامات بھٹو دور میں نہیں دیے گئے اور وجہ بھی یہ نہ تھی، تو کیا کہنے۔

ایک اور تاثر بھی بہت تیز ی سے پھیلایا جا رہا ہے اور اسے بعض دانشوروں کی تحریروں سے مضبوط تر کیا جارہا ہے کہ ’پاکستان میں اقلیتوں کے حق کا کسی صورت بھی تحفظ نہیں کیا جاتا، احمدیوں کو ان کے عقیدے کے مطابق زندگی بسر کرنے نہیں دی جا رہی. حالانکہ ایسا کچھ بھی نہیں ہے، (ہاں تبلیغ یا ایسی باتوں اور چیزوں سے روکا جاتاہے تاکہ وہ سادہ لوح مسلمانوں کو اپنے مسلمان ہونے کا تاثر نہ دے سکیں)، اس ملک میں ہندو، سکھ اور عیسائی اور احمد ی تعلیم حاصل کر رہےہیں، مختلف شعبہ ہائے زندگی میں اپنی ملازمت کے فرائض ادا کر رہے ہیں، ہمارے خیال میں تو ایسا کوئی واقعہ سامنے نہیں آیا کہ کسی بھی اقلیتی فرد کو اس کی مذہب کی وجہ سے نوکری سے برخاست کر دیا گیا ہو، اگر کہیں ایسا ہوا ہے تو ملک کا آئین و قانون اس کے خلاف قانونی اقدام کا راستہ فراہم کرتا ہے اور ہمیں یقینا کر لینا چاہیے کہ اب ہمارا میڈیا اس طرح کے عمل پر پہلے کے مقابلے زیادہ کوریج دینے کو بھی تیار ملے گا۔

لیکن ہمیں ماننا ہوگا کہ ہر ملک کا قانون ہوتا ہے اور خود لبرل دعووں کے مطابق اس پر عملدرآمد ضروری ہے. پاکستان اسلامی ملک ہے، اس کے آئین نے کچھ حدود و قیود طے کردی ہیں، اس میں رہنے والے تمام ہی شہریوں کو ان پر عمل درآمد کرنا چاہیے. اب اگر کوئی یہ سمجھتا ہے کہ نہیں جی ایسا کچھ نہیں ہو رہا ہے، ایک چھوٹی سی مگر بڑی گمبھیر مثال یہ بھی ہے کہ ملک میں آسیہ بی بی کو اپنے کیے کی سزا نہیں ملی جبکہ وہ ممتاز قادری سے پہلے گرفتار ہوئی، مگر ممتاز قادری اپنے کیے پر قانون کے مطابق سزا پاچکا. اس طرح کے رویے ہی اکثریت کو اقلیت سمجھنے کی کوشش سمجھے جا رہے ہیں اور یہ تاثر سادہ لوح مسلمانوں میں مضبوط ہو رہا ہے. متوازن معاشرت کے لیے ان تاثرات کا زائل کیا جانا بھی از حد ضروری ہوگیا ہے۔

آخری بات یہ ہے کہ یہ بھی ایک تاثر ہی ہے کہ اندرون سندھ ہندوؤں کو زبردستی مسلمان کیا جارہا ہے جبکہ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ ہر مسلمان جانتا ہے کہ زبردستی مسلمان کرنا کوئی خیر کا کام نہیں، ورنہ ہزار برس تک ہندوستان پر حکومت کرنے والے مسلمان حکمران زور زبردستی سے تمام ہی ہندوؤں کو مسلمان نہ کر چکے ہوتے؟ جبکہ زبردستی اور لالچ سے مسلمانوں اور دیگر اقلیتوں کو’گھر واپسی‘ کےعنوان سے بھارت میں ہندو بنانے کی کوشش کی جارہی ہے۔ ہم سمیت ملک کے تمام ہی اہل دانش کو ملک کی معاشرتی ،سیاسی اور سماجی بناوٹ کو پہلے تھوڑا بہت سمجھنا ہوگا، اس میں طے شدہ امور بھی سمجھنا ہوں گے،ج ن پر سب متفق ہیں، انہیں اہمیت دینا ہوگی. نئے راستے ،نئی سوچ اچھی بات ہے، مگر اس کا مطلب یہ ہرگز نہیں کہ اپنے طےشدہ ’جھوٹ سچ‘ کو لفظی لبادہ پہنا کر تشکیک پھیلائی جائے۔

I don't know about what they Mulana said but i do have objection because i know the difference between Patriot and traitor and Abdul-us Salaam was a traitor, who disclose Pakistan secret to CIA and try to stop Pakistan nuclear program from day one. I read it from many sources and here is one of them
