Chinese to overtake English as the dominant language of the internet

so much overtakings risk fatal accident specially when who is at driving seat does not care about others....

Chinese is a tonal language with many homophones, the problem if you try to force a Latin type of alphabet is that you'd end up with 15 words with the same spelling, which is why this form of writing never caught on in China. You'd either have to do what Japan did which is to include 2 different alphabets, even then they had to supplement their writing with Chinese characters. Or do what Vietnam did which is to create one of the ugliest languages in both the visual and audio sense, they should of just adopted French like some African countries.
 Of course a Chinese would say that. We do not expect you to say anything else. You should listen to Andy Bumatai of Hawaii when he made fun of people and the languages they speak.

this is pure BS speculation..given the international nature of internet it will remain in english for a long time to come and chinese will simply learn english. Easier for chinese to learn english than the world to learn chinese.

If English is is understood in a larger part of the world, that language is to a person's advantage to learn. Is Chinese going to be the new lingua franca? As of this time that idea is extremely unlikely, the reason Chinese might overtake English is simply because China has a large population, not because the internet as a whole is turning from using English to Chinese. In which case this self-induced pat on the back has no meaning beyond chest-thumping. Chinese will still use English to converse with the rest of the world.

We wanted to be secular, because choosing hindi as the national language means we are ignoring other 60 crore population..
And english was the only language left for us,still "Hindi" is our national language. But some politicians had started opposing against it like Raj thackrey.

Hindi is NOT our national language

India doesn't have a national language per-se.

It's one of the official language of the Union of India along-with English.

chinese language packed many meanings in every character, such as project of C++.
of cource, you should have high intenligence to learn it well, especially phylosophy.

A Chinese/Japanese/Korean ideogram can take 2-4 times the memory allocation compared to alphabets in representing the same idea.

1.6 billion people's mother language is chinese at least.

What does no. of speakers have to do with how easy a language is to learn? :what:

More people than entire population of China learn English, even the French, Spanish and Germans. I see you are yourself using english here. There is a reason why there are not many foreign members in Chinese language based newsgroups and sites.

Patriotism aside buddy, English is probably the easiest language to learn. You don't have to be a master of english though.

English is easier to learn, but it's not the easiest, so that's not the main criteria. People will learn something as long as they see use and money in it.

maybe in business transactions.

But here on internet we'll use english. We are not into making money. Plus i am already 23, i don't wanna learn a whole new language all over again, that too one of the most difficult languages, and i hope majority of the people share this opinion of mine.

Surely, number of Chinese speakers may surpass the number of english speakers in the new. But when the two groups will interact, they'll use english in all possibility.

This forum is an excellent example itself. we got a lot many Chinese members here all conversing in english.

i would be the last person to learn chindi langauge..its so weird...english is much betterr to learn..writting is so easy and clean.....dis chinese who are proud of their so called growth still ve not realized the source of their income..its from english peolple and not chindies...they are not exporting any rocket science tech or rare minerals.....just copied or lincensed stuff....the day blue collar workers in their factory show up brave uprising....chnese will see the reality....

The main criteria is flexibility and in that a language should have a balance of simplicity where it is needed and complexity where it is needed. Growing up in Hawaii, the Polynesian languages are easier to learn if one's desire is to communicate simple ideas quickly. The Hawaiian language has far fewer sounds than English. It has no 'F' whereas the Samoan language do, for example. The 'ah' sound is dominant in Hawaiian. But Hawaiian has proven to be poor at communicating complex ideas, especially technical ones, and when adapted to convey a complex technical idea, the speaker ended up speaking twice to three times as long as his peers.

every examination, some people will say"so easy", but the others say"so difficult". you know it, it's easy; you do not know it, it's difficult.
