What's new

China's navy no longer so inferior to Japan's, experts say

It's not overconfidence , its the reality in the ground. The growth and the technological superiority of our fleet is evident, as we speak, Japan is building 2 new Atago Class Destroyers. This is not taking into consideration our 2nd Izumo Class Light Carrier that is being built, and our plans to procure 3-4 Amphibious Assault Ships of the WASP Class.

The combined power of the 4 JMSDF Escort Fleets and the US Navy's 7th Fleet will decimate any threat to our interests in the Asia-Pacific region when the occasion arises.

This is why it is in no one's interest to engage militarily.

If you simply compare the hardware of navy, US and Japan hold the absolute advantage , no doubt.

But if some day we really have conflict with US or Japan, it will be not far away from mainland, no matter how advanced the ship is , We can sink it with one single or few more missiles.

How many aircrafts in PLAAF ? without thousand of J-7, J-8, CJ-6 ...
cnleio once tell me China has several helicopter too, how many? few hundred ? 1 thousand ?
No/

A number FYI : Vietnam shot down/damage at least 8000 US helicopters during wartime.
Again , with China Gun and Ru missiles.

That's really true. with note that those weapons need human-being to control. Those men were born in Vietnam.
At this moment, we still depend on Russian missiles, but not China gun ...
Beside, we have many other sources for weapon ...

Israel,
France
India
Korea
Ukraine
Poland
Czech
Spain
Netherland
next : Japan, USA

You do have good source of weapon.

People is important and also the weapon.

No matter how many soldiers you have or how brave they are , they have no chance to fire down so many jets with out the missiles or guns.

US yes, but not Japan.

Japan has no offensive capability at all.

Your saying style just like China is going to attack Japan tomorrow morning.

China itself is a factory beast, how many warships can Japan build or acquire from the Americans within a year? Will America allow Japan unconditionally build as many as she wishes? How much resources does Japan have compared to China?
If China was dead serious its mass production will go on steroid not to mention our missile force is a lethal factor combined with H-6 launching cruise missiles from a safe distance. We will have dozens of modern destroyers within a couple of years, more nuclear subs will be constructed. Without America Japan stand no chance no matter how good your ASW are or the experiences Japanese Navy has gathered these past decades.

Again, you're counting assets that aren't on the ground yet. I mean, we could do the same, too, but as it stands, its best to have a realistic analyses.

And the original article posted by the OP @Edison Chen , is from the South China Morning Post. Of course there will be some bias on China's part. A more neutral piece say, if it came from Jane's , would have been more balanced.

you must resist the hate Young Padawan.

Do not give into the dark side of the East Asian politics

Fair enough, make a comparison after 10, 20 to 30 years when each Navies have their assets ready

US fleet still operating sparsely around the world. if US want to help Japan in naval fight against PLA, they have to focus most of their fleet in the Pacific
Just a single 7th fleet is not enough for the whole PLAN

How about 5th Fleet?

This topic IS comparing CN and JApan navy.

And your saying sound like Viet can beat up any one

@Nihonjin1051 We always prefer quality over quantity, but history teaches us the other way around. Remember the battle of Kursk during WW2? German beast tanks lost to Russian cheap tanks produced from farming machine factories. 1 German tank went against around 5-8 T-34s. Or in Korean war, Chinese human waves proved to be quite effective. I think war between big countries is not about who wins the battle, but who loses more money. And with things as now, China will not run out of money if it goes to war with anyone.
