China will take strong counter measures

You can personally choose to boycott the Japanese stuffs, but China and Japan cant afford a trade war. Both sides highy depent on each other.China is Japans main trade surplus source and NO1 trade partner while Japan is Chinas 3rd trade partner.
But I think now its Japans last chance to control Diao Yu island.Ten years later it will face a more confident, more powerful China both on economy and military sectors while itself with an aging population and declined economy. Its zero chance for them to even think about the disput islands at that time.So why not to make a try now.

This part doesn't make sense in your argument. If time is running out for Japan, China won't settle the dispute permanently in the near future. Time will be on China's side.

Well, you must know the different between control and settle the problem. What I mentioned its that now the Japanese has a chance to fully take the island under control while there are many explainations of settle a disputation. For example, both sides could cooperate to share the island.
But now,it seems the Japanese has an intension to fully control the island thats what we cant accept.By sentencing the captain using the Japanese law, they could claim its their teritorry that under their laws control.

I understood that part. But what good is control right if you are going to lose out in the long term. China will never let them drill in the area even if it is under their control.

Well, you need to convince the Japanese not to do it.

"We demand the Japanese side immediately release the Chinese captain unconditionally," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu.

Demand........what arrogance, now who would want China to be a superpower if its so greedy.

Oh, yeah, what a righteous ejaculation!

Then please explain why India arrogantly demands others to stop working in other country’s territory? India demands China stop all work in Kashmir

Nationalist ground swell I assure you. Please drop this pretence of all Chinese being puppets of the state.

Never thought Chinese gov treated their people as puppets I assure you.

Will be interesting to see how Japan would handle the issue if things heated up to such a point.

The interesting thing about having a diplomatic conflict with Japan, is that they are forbidden by their own constitution, from even making the "threat" of force.

So even if this diplomatic incident gets a lot bigger (which it won't), there is a ceiling that the Japanese cannot cross, because of their own pacifist constitution.

If the Japanese govt is hardline enough with Maehara, then they could justify the deployment of forces as they consider the Senkakus a part of Japan. Its defensive, not offensive force which is allowed.

Constitutions can be changed, Japan has already been discussing building nukes, and with the number of power plants Japan has they could have thousands of nuclear weapons in a short time. Threats from North Korea and China could make Japan rethink their being pacifist.

Long time no see! How is your vacation? Did you visit Ireland, Iceland, Finland or some other "land" that started with a T?

The question is they will target the nuclear missiles to whom if they had.Do you think you really understand what the Japanese are thinking about?
For the memory of the second world war, most Japanese only remembered is that the two nuclear bombs dropped by the United States.Maybe you should pray for yourself instead of worrying about China when théy had the bombs.

Dude, don't bother answering to that guy. He is quite famous for his "activities" on the China Defence section before he took his little vacation.

The problem is not just asking for releasing the captain. The problem is that China needs to send surveillance ships (not just one but three or five) to protect the fishing boats, while at the same Navy ships should patrols routinely around the island chain.
