Well, I don't regard India wielding the same power just yet (no offense there, just stating what I think). They are an emerging power, but not on the levels of China, Russia and America.

If you have to put a date to your nuke test, then China has achieved it since October 16, 1964. Making China the 5th official nuclear power. This came two years after the Sino-India war which lasted only a little over a month. We can pulverize all your major cities including Delhi since then so can our brother Pakistan. What are you trying to say here? China don't even care about what India does, your people's attitude in general, are quite the contrary however.

China's Thermonuclear device was 32 months after nuclear detonation , the shortest fission to fusion development in history. Also the third largest after the United states and Soviet Union at 3.31 Megatons. Even Indian claims of 50 kilotons has been endlessly derided by most American sources. This puts India's claim of a thermonuclear weapon in question. You see nuclear detonations can be recorded across the world and when it doesn't match your claims most people will call BS.

I guess all they got from Russia are the blueprints for the charlie class. Russians are not that stupid, I guess. It will be interesting to see how a country with no expertise in SLBMs is going to jam them into the old Charlie class. Sometimes, I dont understand the Indian way of development. They should have begged and pleaded to get at least a delta class. Maybe we could have given them the old George Washington Class. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

What makes you feel or think that the INS Arihant will be based upon Charlie Class??? We had Leased the Nuclear Submarine to Study about it , But We dint have to Copy it... The design of Arihant is Still a Mystery

All this whining and moaning about China being a threat is actually a good thing.

The Europeans and Americans have been conquering, colonizing and forcing others to play by their rules since the 15th Century. First their excuse was about trade, then "pacifying and educating the barbarians" and now "promoting democracy". Now they are bitching about it because they can't take the fact somebody won't play by their established rules.

Time for a new playing field where the rules are not set by the West. The louder they whine, the more it shows China is on the right path.

I read somewhere on this forum that it was based on the charlie class. If it is a secret, then I'll refrain from pre judging and wait for were the finalized designs. But if it based on Charlie class, indians need to jump quickly to a better class. I think the British Vanguard class is somewhere in between. I need to look that up. But, do you know where the blueprints are from? I think india is now not under American sanctions anymore. You could look at the George Washington class as well.

It is already clear who is a power and who isn't. Let me make this clearer:

America says "I will protect the world."
South Korea cries to America, "please help us, the Chinese backed North Korea is bullying us again."
Japan cries to America "please help us, I think Chinese is trying to take over Daoyu Islands again."
Russia says "Hey Chinese brothers, lets have some fun. You go to Daoyu and we go to Kuril and lets dump the US dollars for a laugh too."
India tells China to becareful. Russia is our friends, America is our friends, Europe is our friends. They all sell us weapons. We can beat you up now.. (but still no action).
China says "hi people, lets listen to ਤੁਨਕ ਤੁਨਕ ਤੁਨ and party"

I really don't think the US or Russia will be dumb enough to sell India SSBN plans.

After all, once India develops it will threaten the interests of the US just as severely as China does and perhaps even more.

We might not know what design the Arihant is but we know the general size is about 5000-6000 tons about the size of the Charlie II . I don't think that size sub could carry SLBMs. The Charlie IIs certainly couldn't. Perhaps its a Short range SLBM? Even SSNs like the 093 Shang class are between 6000-7000 tons

Doubtful, I have yet to meet an American that talks like him. I'm not judging though. If he thinks being an American makes him more credible then I have some bad news for him.

I feel that USA might be the one who backstabs India in its bidding for permanent membership.

China won't mind if India becomes one as it supports the rise of the developing nations.

But, I think India leased a Charlie class in the 1980s or something. Perhaps, they are basing their sub on this outdated design. Or maybe they are all cattle, no hat, like they say in Texas, and all they have is a hull. Mastering miniaturization of nuke reactor for the sub would be a good first step. But, when push comes to shove, we can always have a couple of SSBNs floating in the South China sea on their behalf.

Americans generally have a lack of knowledge of India as a whole. For example most I have met think India is Buddhist country. They certainly don't care enough about India to want to help them militarily without payment so thats a dead give away.
