The Gulf was in dispute because both sides's claims overlapped each others' claims; that's why there was a dispute and that's why there was a treaty to settle the dispute. You guys need to make up your mind to save your faces whether you consider any part of the Gulf area is part of your territory because you guys even claim the sea area around Spartley which is a thousand km away from home to be part of your history/territory but not the gulf which sits right next to your door? territory is not decided by distance. Britain does not own France, which is about 2 km away, while it does own the Falklands, 8000 km away.

actually they could,you have to have two things to get what you claim.1.historical evidence to back up your claim,this is the moral part that you SHOULD have.2.the economic power and military might to establish your claim.that is the physical part that you MUST have.

I would not make too much of his statement. He is trying to calm down the folks at home who are agitated due to the latest development in SCS. One of them being SCS countries arming themselves with submarines and some of them will eventually acquire carrier as well. The other development is agreement between India and Vietnam to explore for oil and gas in Vietnam's water.

I am not going to challenge our Chinese brothers on this forum who engage in a war like rhetoric to prove their might, it is easier said than done. So calm down guys it is diversion meant for public consumption with in China due to slowing down of the economy.

US (This is not option, china will not dare so I know the answer)
US-Iran war (China might want to get involved covertly or overtly)

At leats US dare to send her warship around conflict zone, but we see No China warship in conflict zone till now.why dare not you to do the same with US ??

in 1979 we won the war in every aspect,I can go through all the details with you again if you keep forgetting things,and this time we are calling for the navy to be ready for war,and the only two navy battles bw China and Vietnam were the ones in 1974 and 1988.you both lost miserably,do you have any other record of naval battle besides those two?
