It Is not as simple as that. With the threat of sanctions the Pakistani armed forces are only going to the US for stuff which it can get cheaply or which cannot be sanctioned in case of a war. OHPs, Artillery,and F16s are what we feel can be procured safely for various reasons. Other than that we are either getti g stuff from other sources or getting it from China. As our manufacturing base is expanding we are incorporating a part build clause to further utilise effectively whatever little resources we can muster for our defence. This in my view is the best option for a resource constrained cou try like Pakistan. It is interesting to see that we have not expanded the utilities base as much as the defence base. This is a depiction of our perception of our geopolitical environment rather than anything else. My hope is that we will further expand our base in dual use technologies so that while tbe commodities canbe sold on the market the funds gained can be redirected to R&D.

Off course we Pakistanis are not going to conduct any feasibility studies. We are not going to conduct any testing on this equipment, we will just blindly accept whatever the Chinese offer us.

It appears that PN will be acquiring the latest version of Chinese QING Submarines. PN as of now does not has the budget nor the requirement to operate a Nuclear Sub. Considering PN's Doctrine, Qing can do far more damage compared to a Nuclear Sub. A conventional Sub equipped with AIP does the job for us. They will be equipped with the capability to fire cruise missiles; its a given because Babur has been tested with a canister and U214 were rejected because the Germans refused to mate Cruise Missiles with them.

One thing i am a bit cross about is, this news was leaked on PDF quite early on. In my opinion, it never should have been leaked. Pakistani members on this forum with inside knowledge need to put a seal on their lips.

Sir the Qing is just a prototype/test bed.

Our sub is under development, it will have a fuel cell AIP and Pump Jet propulsion systems.
