China is making a mistake in being too nice. Its neighbors perceive the kindness as weakness. China should become more like the U.S. or Russia (the 20% Georgia annexation was a nice touch). China should become hard-nosed like Americans and Russians.

Now it took them 10 years to refit a small second-hand carrier for India, before USSR was almost close to build a nuclear supercarrier that was comparable to the USS Nimitz.

Yep, Varyag is in fact 80000 tons, while Ulyanovsk was definitely up to 100000 tons.

Now Russia doesn't even have the capability to replicate Varyag, never mind a superior one like Ulyanovsk.

that logic is little bit flawed.That deal was plagued with uncertainties due to increase of cost.thats a big reason of delay.plus,Gorshkov was going under massive refit,much much more than varayag.extensive amount of refit took a lot of time.remember,Gorshkov was a carrier cruiser,which could carry helicopters,not aircraft.they have to convert it to an aircraft carrier.

plus russia will start to buld a 80000 tons(approx) nuclear powered Aircraft carrier by 2017.thats much bigger than Varayag and close to super carriers.
