Canistered Missile Launchers for MR-SAM Developed - To Replace IAF's S-125 Neva/Pechora Missiles

Hope all this SAM research/development leads one day to an effective ABM system or am i getting my hopes up.:(

I am not expert but in my opinion trailers are best suited for hilly road condition!

OK better looking and more compact TELs are certainly a good to have.

But I'm not going to bash our guys for such flimsy reasons as long as the must haves are delivered.

exactly ..................indian missile launcher is too bulky............we need to learn from russia or china

just look at the launcher........all are trailer not mobile enough

look at chinese ones...............compact small and contains more missiles

pakistanis ones are imported from chinese.............

We have the same problems in other areas too:

True, but denel has also a 6x6 on an armored vehicle that was even tested in India in trials and the other competitors of the the TATA / DENEL howitzer now, are based on 6x6 trucks too, Ashok Leyland for example, just as the Israeli Atmos, that might come with a foreign truck though.
The point is, no matter how good the howitzer or missile is, a large and heavy platform will limit it's operational use and mobility. The TATA howitzer, or an oversized Barak 8 trailer will be hard to transport other by transport aircrafts for example and we need these SAM systems and howitzers in the mountain areas too, which makes mobility crucial.

I think these will improve as we get more mature in TEL technology

Even the case of BM TELs are no different .

This comparison says it all ,

The TEL of the Brahmos/Prahar is fine IMHO- the 12X12 Tatra is very capable in terms of its mobility and off roading capability. The Brahmos is a huge missile and if you want to transport 3 of them and launch form a vehicle you are going to need a huge vehicle.

What is with the assumption that 6X6 is inherently superior to 8X8? 8X8 will bring additional capabilities because of its extra axle especially if it a drive axle then you would get superior weight distribution, lower ground pressure and more extreme off roading capability. 6x6 is all well and good IF the truck is up to the task and if it is reasonable to expect a truck to transport such loads with just 3 axles but one can't simply arbitrarily demand 3 axles only, sometimes the loads and the required hauling capability demands an extra axle and 8X8 trucks are extremely impressive.
