The Indo Chinese alliance in the offing could introduce high speed bullet trains in the Indian railway network drastically reduce travelling time. China is well versed with the concept of bullet trains which were introduced way back in 2007. The country now possess the most advanced and largest rail networks for bullet trains across the globe and is assisting India to go the same way which will be introduced across certain routes in the country.
The venture will be a part of India China Strategic Economic Dialogue wherein a trade target of US$70 million will be invested by end of 2012 following US$100 million by 2015. India will be purchasing bullet trains from China at a very economical rate as compared to those sold by Japanese bullet train manufacturers.
The new agreement is signed and sealed and the Indian Railways have already allocated seven routes along which bullet trains from China will be introduced. The distance from Delhi to Chandigarh has been considered for introduction of a bullet train which will run at a speed of 300 kmph or above while the route from Ahmedabad to Mumbai is also cleared for introduction of bullet train.

This will not work in india. To build a nation wide high speed railway network and effectively operate it, you need:

1. a strong government that can propose and implement consistent policies over decades. india's political eco system will not allow this to happen. any real development could be easily hijacked by some so called "opposition" for political BS reasons.

2. a hardworking work force. indian workers are too lazy to make this happen. the only solution is to bring Chinese workers to build it as part of the contract. yet again - this willbe hijacked by some political morons backed by strong nationalism.

3. a reliable power grid. high speed rail need electricity, india doesn't have it and there is no plan to actual fix this.

4. a professional team to operate it. this is again impossible, you can figure this out by looking at india's current train networks. why it is so dangerous, dirty, out of date?

of course, I am not saying it is totally impossible, if india can merge into China and become a new province of China, then I am sure all these problems can be solved within 2-3 decades.

a good initiative indeed.

++++++++++++1 - I am with you on that mate - But with Indians and their loud mouths will be a problem for the CCP who would want people not to question them.

building special line for bullet train is a big money.electrification transformation of the existing railway is better.our EMUs are running on the old tracks at the speed 200km/h.

India is keeping one option as China and there are other options like France with which we have Nuclear and defense cooperation,
Japan is also participating in infrastructure development in India.

You speak as if China has achieved a modern miracle, Fact is these Bullet trains are just an upgrade to the existing railways in India or China.

1) IN the next decade India is prioritizing Infrastructure development and the policies are also drafted in favour of this development.

2) Your second point is a complete BS, Chinese obey CCP, where as Indians have their own way of development and work culture.
(Not a valid point and biased judgement).

3) India is building Nuke power plants and recently sealed a deal worth of 45 Billion with Russia no problem for power in the future.

4) Professionals grow with the training facilities and India has abundant work force and technical base and they can absorb the tech from various countries like Japan, France, Germany and China and Indigenize it.

Your post hints at your delusional Chinese superiority fact is India can do what China has done but it will take some time.

in other way, if India merges with china, we will solve all your problem in just 5 years or less, but of course, you must first consult with your allies -Pakistan-other wise, they will declare you their enemy and might send jihadists into your territory.

on topic

great going, just normal trade relations with china are paying off in such a great amount, if we can work together, we can accomplish a lot.

building special line for bullet train is a big money.electrification transformation of the existing railway is better.our EMUs are running on the old tracks at the speed 200km/h.

Electrification of most of the tracks has already been done n we r continously upgrading our Engine fleet with better n more powerful Indian locomotives....

These r new tracks between major metro cities it'll help to provide a faster n cheaper solution to local people...

But we don't have much experience in Bullet trains except for few metro trains with foreign colloboration...

N if China can provides one of the cheapest n reliable Bullet trains then why not get these trains from China...
