I actually thought Bangladesh and Indonesia had more chances to join BRICS since these two countries were a safer bet than those in the Middle East. But looking at it differently, they have conveniently avoided the countries in the Indo-Pacific which is very interesting!

Pakistan has no problem with Bangladesh, they are members of many international organisations such as OIC, D8. Bangladesh will join BRICS, so will Pakistan.

India used to be a slave of erstwhile Soviet Union. But after the fall of Soviet Union, India has found a new master in the West. They are a slave nation wearing dhotis.

Brazil didn’t have any specific problem with Bangladesh but they were not in favor of adding so many members into the bloc and against the idea BRICS is counterweight to G7 or western countries.

Bangladesh will , someday. But Im very doubtful when it comes to pakistan. India definitely won't permit it. And admission of any member requires consensus among the 5 countries , if one county objects then the decision has to be put on the backburner

Indonesia never apply for BRICS membership and it is stated directly by Jokowi in his YT channel (Sekretariat President YT channel). You should be critical when some media or analyst said this and that without any prove. All opinion about Indonesia applying BRICS membership are alll still in speculation level. Every thing has been clear by our President statement in his recent YT channel since many questions arised of why Indonesia is not included.

Despite so Indonesia has already been quite close with BRICS and also had already join the BRICS summit meeting virtually last year.

Great! But before the conference Bangladesh and Indonesia were two of the countries were to be added beside two other countries.

This is something what you are claiming are said after the conference. I do not know what happened behind the scene. Some addition of members are indeed a surprise.

No one blocked BD inclusion. BD only expressed an interest to join only a couple of months ago. Those who were accepted expressed interest years ago. I suspect BDs name did not come up in this round.

It’s all because Chinese FM and Ambassadors assured Bangladesh of its membership and after that FM Momen did the press conference where he declared Bangladesh will be a member in August. If Bangladesh is not becoming a member in this round there were no need of Hasina to go to South Africa. It’s an embarrassment for her to come home empty handed.

This is true.... the optics lend to perception of failure.... but BD only expressed interest literally weeks ago hence by belief.
