AGARTALA: The Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) denied the allegation of influx from Bangladesh into the northeast, including Assam's trouble-torn districts of Kokrajhar and Dhubri. They instead accused that 2,200 Bangladeshi nationals had been kidnapped by the BSF and Indian nationals in the last 10 months, BSF officials said on Tuesday.

The BGB made this accusation at the border co-ordination meeting between the inspector generals' (IGs) of the Border Security Force (BSF) and deputy director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Sylhet last week.

BSF mapped out as many as 55 hideouts of northeastern militants in two districts of southern Bangladesh -Khagracharri and Rangamati, of which 30 camps belong to Tripura militants.

The meeting discussed bilateral issues of mutual concern, especially those relating to trans-border criminal activities of Indian insurgent groups, incidents of armed attacks on BSF jawans by Bangladeshi criminals while BGB reportedly raised some specific issues of atrocities on Bangladeshi nationals.

Besides dismantling the militants' hideouts in Bangladesh, BSF also asked BGB to construct adequate border outposts in the stretches across southern hill districts, which have been left unfenced and uncared for and militants are using it as a corridor.

Well if no one is crossing the border, then why do you cry for all the so called Bangladeshis that get shot by BSF while illegally crossing the border? They are probably Indians getting shot then :drag:

Certainly there are no tresspassings to Assam from Bangladesh. Muslims of western Assam and our Mymensingh are same people with same root. Since after 1205 AD our Mymensingh people started to go there and cultivate the land. In older times, they would cultivate and then bring back the rice. But, when the musim population exploded some of them started to live in their Assam homes. So, these Assamese Muslims and Mymensingh Muslims have a common root and they are same people.

However, the country has been divided and they have become citizens of two different countries.
We cannot say it is a tresspassing when the assamese Muslims come to their kins' homes in Mymensingh and Mymensingh muslims also go to their kins' homes in Assam. Some of the descendents of Bangali muslims have been living both in western assam and Mymensingh for more than eight centuries. It is unusual to call them tresspassars when Assam is also their homeland.

However, there is another group of muslims who formed an invasion force, but were defeated. They were enslaved, but were finally allowed to settle in eastern (probably) Assam. They were allowed to marry local Assamese (Mongoloid) women. Their descendents claim themselves as true assamese muslims.

In order to make claims and counter-claims between BD and India the best approach should be to provide dual nationalities to these muslims, so that they are not regarded as tresspassers. If they are restricted by BSF gunfire there will be revolt instigated by die-hard Jamaatis. They may also be given special entry permits so that the Jamaatis cannot take opportunities of the situation.

So, how the Indians think about this pragmatic approach? Perhaps, Indians will like BSF bickerings, instead, in the meetings.

No, either they are Indians or illegals. No dual nationality is the only logical answer. As far as I am concerned, if you were born in India, and have been livin in the lands of India for generations, you are Indian. Otherwise, you are an illegal.

Are you aware that in the first half of the 20th century, there was something called partition? Muslim who wanted to were to choose BD(then East Pakistan). If your argument is that these Muslims did not, it means they rejected you, your country & your countrymen. Why then, are you begging the people who preferred to remain with the "Hindus" rather than be associated with you to become BD citizens by dual nationality?

This is what happens when you imagine that everyone will buy your silly logic.

Eastwatch,

I think you are coming up with things to enable trolling. India does not allow duel nationality to counter the effect of partition.

I would not wish to give NE or WB Muslims BD passports. Many of them would have preferred to be in BD undoubtedly but partition however imperfect is a fact of life. It's not going to change. People should make their destiny as best as they can in whichever side of the border they happen to be.

Don't throw around the word Jamati... It does not mean anti-India nor does it mean reactionary. If BDs give credence to such hyperbole it strengthens only those wishing to harm the nations interest.

, BSF also asked BGB to construct adequate border outposts in the stretches across southern hill districts

WTF????????????

1. There is no illegal immigration to Assam from Sylhet, and I know that personally as I am from the north-east of Sylhet i.e. from the north-east section of Bangladesh's north-eastern "province" (division).

2. Sylhetis are concerned about going to London, the Gulf, USA, Canada, Malaysia but not poverty stricken Assam.

3. This is merely regurgitating propaganda from right-wing Hindu supremacist parties who have dubbed every Bengali-speaking Muslim in India as a "Bangladeshi".

They just dream that some BD muslim will opt to migrate to their poverty stricken country so that they can tell the world, see Muslims are no better than us as you thought for the last 1000 years ;)

This is severe inferiority complexicity resulted from living uder the rule of Muslim and then the Brits for more than a millenium. But, sad part is nobody gives a damn about it..

@Hammer-fist, you have to understand Indians think their people eat gold and drink honey and sleep on Makhmal. But, you have shattered their dreams by saying that it is indeed a begger country. India wants a delaying process to implement Teesta and other Treaties including swapping of Chitmahal territories. So, the BoI sent this BSF team to complain about illegal immigrants. When Singapore is asking our womwnt to work as housekeeper at $480/month, how it is possible for our people to go to India where people defecate in the open? Only those people go and come back who were partly Assamese and partly bangladeshis.
