Apparently Indians think they have invented it according to the video in the first post.

Bryan is a perfect meal and a steady bunch of recipes that has been in place for hundreds of years, and I do not think it's Indian, but I know that it has been transmitted to many countries. One of these countries is India and Bangladesh.

It's just way of showing you displeasure. What I meant originally that we are a very socially conservative family. Not religious but conservative. There is a differance. That conservative attitudes we have are part of our psche and will evolve but slowly. The females in our family do not war head covering but do dress what might be called modest. The clothing can be and often is 'Western' but it is moderate. Something like you might see in conservative Turkish towns in inner Anatolia but the generation below 50 do not wear head covering. This is my nephew and sister. We are not some fundamentalits or what people here call "westoxified". Just keep religion in private space. And that is why I like Turkey.

You call yourself Liberal but can declare on an open forum that you can break your daughter's legs for displaying her legs while living in a western society. Most parents even in Pakistan who consider themselves religious would not think of breaking their child's legs but think of how they could make them understand their culture.

You look like a recently naturalized Pakistani in Britan trying to eagerly fit into the western culture but can't leave your roots behind. Such circumstances usually lead to personal or religious beliefs leading towards radicalization, a common phenomenon among British Pakistanis.
