Biryani: Hindu or Muslim ?

Haw! The plot has thickened.
Oh no.

If I wanted pics from female members here, the obvious route would be to pretend to be a female myself. Not that I'm saying this particular member does that.

I wasn't aware that food had religious tags. Also is Kebab Iranian, Arab or Turkish? Cuisine is culture, cultures are ever evolving and spread due to trade and conquests.

daal chawal and some homemade shami kebabs ... mmmmm

got to have gosht of some kind on the plate ... just doesn't feel right without it ...

unless there's saag and makei de roti ... then no need for meat

Honestly I can eat Daal chawal without any meat as long as there are fresh green chilies to munch with it.

You need tomatoes for Biryani.

Timatar are very expensive in Pakistan

I don't believe Arabs or Afghans eat it. I don't think even Iranians eat this dish anymore. Let's get some Iranians on here and ask them. @Parsipride @skyshadow

In Iran, Biryani or Beryooni is name of a popular food, originating in city of Isfahan and very popular there, which has nothing to do with biryani served in South Asia. It's also called Isfahan's Biryan. Although the name originates from Persian, but the food mentioned in this thread is specific to South Asia, but we have similar dished almost exactly like Biryani made in south Asian countries, mostly without much spices.
