EXCLUSIVE: A bipartisan resolution being introduced by Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., Tuesday, condemns the Chinese government over its handling of the coronavirus outbreak, painting a stark picture of lies and mismanagement contributing to the pandemic that has infected nearly 390,000 people worldwide and killed more than 16,700.

Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., and Banks led the drive to round up co-sponsors for the resolution Monday which so far has seen Reps. Kevin Hern, R-Okla., Austin Scott, R-Ga., Trent Kelly, R-Miss., Brian Babin, R-Texas, Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., Greg Steube, R-Fla., Larry Bucshon, R-Ind., Mike Rogers, R-Ala., Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., Kelly Armstrong, R-N.D., Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., and Jason Smith, R-Mo., sign on.

This resolution comes as tensions between the U.S. and China are running high over the Chinese government's high-powered propaganda campaign seeking to paint itself as the global coronavirus savior while several U.S. officials and politicians, including President Trump, have taken to calling the coronavirus the "Chinese virus" in reference to its origins in Wuhan, a city in China.

The resolution argues that the Chinese government "made multiple, serious mistakes in the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak that heightened the severity and spread of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which include the Chinese government's intentional spread of misinformation to downplay the risks fo the virus, a refusal to cooperate with international health authorities, internal censorship of doctors and journalists and malicious disregard for the health of ethnic minorities."

Specifically, the resolution suggests that China was aware of a novel coronavirus strain in mid-December, with multiple doctors raising the alarm among the Chinese medical community before the new year. But, the resolution says, Chinese authorities muzzled those doctors, including on Jan. 3 forcing one to "sign a letter confessing that he had made 'false comments' that 'severely disturbed the social order.'"

The largely Republican group of representatives also condemns China for its treatment of the Uighur Muslims, a religious minority from which U.S. government officials believe China has rounded up between 800,000 and 2 million people, placing them in reeducation camps that function largely as forced labor camps.

not the right time people , Stand together not divide ..

Distraction for the botched US handling of the virus. Never tested, to barely tested. If not for the doctor who leak the information that there were local transmission, US wouldn't have started testing at all.

I don’t trust a single thing coming from the US. Their government is owned by Wall Street criminals. Their hyper capitalist economy is a fraud that doesn’t benefit average people. Their corporate media and propagandists are absolute gutter filth. Their private healthcare system is disgusting. Their FDA is run by crooks. That whole country is broken from top to bottom and represents evil.

US is run by such a nasty bunch.
No country could have acted more rapidly in case of a pandemic than china ,and the fact that china almost instantly released the corona genome sequence, helped the global preparedness for the pandemic. It is using the gene sequence released by the chinese that all those institutions in the US and other places could start making test kits and vaccine so soon.
US deserve to be on knees before china.

The US congress has been idiotically delaying the much needed economic stimulus bill for over a week now - but they want to do these blame affixation bills in the mean time!

YES WE ALL KNOW CHINA IS THE CULPRIT. Now move on and do your real priority work senators !

Washington is acting like a dog that bites from the hand that feeds him, the US recieves the majority of it's medical supplies from China & at the same time they still can't help but slander China.

some one tell that traitor Jack Ma to stop donating masks & testing kits to the US, there are many other countries that are in a bad situation that deserve this aid.

Jack Ma is interested in keeping on the good side with US elite. He will be exempted from future US sanctions.

Instead of being spent on COVID19 treatment for the most vulnerable Americans, American tax dollars are being spent on this pointless display of bigotry
Ridiculous disregard for the actual job these political bodies should be performing presently - that of fixing the epidemic in the USA!

And instead of preparing to fight with Covid-19, they wasted time criticizing and attacking China.

That's pretty much all American politicians are good for. DRAMA. Fucking shitheads all of them.

There's also a conspiracy theory going around that Covid-19 originated in the US and was already in wide circulation. The theory goes that the US govt. and the CDC was already aware of this and prevented mass testing in order to keep American confirmed cases artificially low until the spread of Covid-19 skyrocketed elsewhere so as to not draw attention to the fact that the US was already the original and largest pool of coronavirus infection.
