Are ‘war-mongers’ narrating the China-India story?

Hmmmm...
Do not consider this forum(or youtube) to be microcosm of what India thinks about China, or vice-versa. There is no need to get so pessimistic. Get suspicions about each other's intentions out of the way first, thats the key.

Oh there's little chance I'm going to form an opinion of the whole of the Indian people by the behaviour of a few clowns around here and I'd ask people not form an opinion of all Chinese people based on me :toast_sign:

lol if you're reading it on youtube, you're wasting your life.
Thats where most of the racism is vented.

I'm actually still optimistic about India and China, not out of some naive faith in the goodness of people (who the hell believes in that ) but just because of sheer economic sense and greed over coming hate.

"we like to bomb you off the face of the earth... but it's more profitable to trade with you instead. So we'll save our bombs for now..."

My reason for optimism is we both have sane Govt as of now.

Are you kidding me, PDF has tons of racists. All you need is one dis-agreement that people jump on toot the racists horns. Worse are those who "point" fingers at others as racists, while making racist statements.

It does reinforce Thomas Hobbes' idea of people are real bastards without constructs of society and the rule of law. The reason why racism on PDF is better than YT is not I suspect because people here are better but that they are given incentives not to make blatantly racist remarks.

Case in point:

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

I can tell you without looking all the things the comments below are like to include. The thing about this is that these are the same people that you are likely to go to University with, or work with. Thank god for the mask of civility I guess.

The Indian government is primarily responsible for Indian enmity toward China. Following the 1962 defeat the Indian government spun an elaborate web of falsehood to cover up its misadventure. Almost 50 years after the war the Indian government still refuses to release any of the major investigative reports on the border war. It has a lot to hide from the Indian people. Until and unless the Indian government musters the courage to come clean on the course of events that eventually led to war, there is little prospect of a fundamental improvement of Sino-Indian relations. One wonders why there has not been more of a voice in India asking for the release of official archives relating to the war.

Okay, Guys, I have excavated an old post on this forum from a Chinese member(Squallmao). The thread is
http://www.defence.pk/forums/china-defence/23654-future-china-india-relations.html

I watch/read news everyday in both Chinese and English, it's very very rare to find something about India. No offense to Indian people but in fact, no one in China treats India as a threat, nor at the same level that China at today, most people think India is not worth mentioning about (sorry but that's the truth). We do talk a lot about countries like US, japan and some European countries.

Is this really true? How does this fit in with the "war monger" theory?

It is true but this doesn't mean that Chinese media doesn't war monger out of some sort of kindness or moral superiority. It has more to do (I think) with the image of China that the CCP is trying to project to the Chinese people.

It's overall theme is "look how harmonious our society is. We are an up and coming power, and also everyone in the world respects us as the center kingdom" India hating China doesn't fit this picture of "reality" so they ignore it.

Well I wouldn't say that the news is completely true. This is certainly true for the official media which is quite "hexie" (harmonious) and tries to not antagonize other nations, Japan and the U.S. included. To the majority of Chinese people India is very mysterious and we are more curious about the Indian culture and customs than out right "threatened" by India. Here is a personal story: I didn't know that there was a War between China and India in the 60s until I learned about it in a U.S. debate class when I was 16!

There are, however, a lot of "Fengqing" (angry youths) in China who do antagonize India. They, however, bash just about anyone (Japan, Vietnam, the U.S., Russia, etc.). They mostly laugh at India the same way that the Rightwing Japanese laugh at the Chinese and see India as backwards and a puppet to foreign influences. I, obviously, disagree with their POV and they do not represent the dominant Chinese opinion on Indian. I suspect that the subjects of Nomenclature's article are these people.
