MUZAFFARABAD – The state government of Azad Jammu Kashmir has decided to lodge a protest against any attempt to convert Gilgit Baltistan into a province.


A resolution will be tabled in the Legislative Assembly during the forthcoming session commencing on January 12 in this regard. Addressing a press conference at the Prime Minister’s House here on Saturday, Minister for Finance, Planning & Development Chaudhry Latif Akber said that Gilgit Baltistan was part and parcel of the divided and disputed state of Jammu Kashmir.


“Any attempt to merge the Gilgit Baltistan into Pakistan will deal a fatal blow to our stand in the light of UN resolutions envisaging right to self-determination for the Kashmiris,” said the minister. He said that Gilgit Baltistan was a constitutional part of the Jammu Kashmir State. “We will not let the division of Jammu Kashmir on any cost,” he said.


– Temporary administrative control –


Recalling that Gilgit Baltistan had been given in the administrative control of Pakistan on a temporary basis, he asked the federal government not to think beyond that. He called upon the government to give rights to Gilgit Biltastan as Azad Jammu Kashmir and other provinces are enjoying. He said that the establishment was conspiring against the nation and it doesn't want to see the nation united.

Obviously understand the importance of having a bullwark to corner India..and with chinese insistence we also gave them a chunk of AJK and soon we will annex AJK as well..Indians can only watch in fervour...

If FATA was made a province we would not have terrorism today!

For practical reason they should merge with Pakistan,J&K boundaries are permanent and will remain so in the future.

There are many other factors involved in that as well but yeah it wouldn't have been that much intense.

Debate on Status of FATA was going on but than i lost it, so want to know what was/is result.

It is noted and taken into consideration but you also must understand that while you stand an independent nation with your own govt and prime minister GB stands nothing. They wished to join us and we respected that wish but for 68 years we didn't listen to them nor gave them a voice....

They deserve representation and they will get it. They are loyal Pakistanis and they deserve to be with us. It maybbe the first small step but its the right direction...

As for fata heard there were talks of either merging it with kpk or make it a separate province... I think chances are merger will happen as the kpk govt really wants it to happen.

India is kamoosh on this the reason they're waiting for opportunity.. the day Pakistan merge AJ&K with PAkistan India will start doing the same (J&K in India) but again India is failed till today the reason, both land are completely different from each other. One side not under any military control. From Govt to everything, AJ&K has their own govern infrastructure where as J&K having massive amount of Indian Army, high level of Indian Army violence and strong freedom movement....
