I speak all the languages and know every itsy bitsy detail and even then have a tough time discerning between the following (ONLINE ONLY):

1. Turkmen
2. Tajik
3. Uzbek
4. Hazara

We all speak *most* of the regional languages, however, online it's almost impossible to understand who is sitting on the other side. On the other hand if I see the dude, I could tell you who the **** he was, however, you wouldn't be able to do the same!

I had a similar experience as you had, long time ago @Islamabad. A Tajik-Afghan pretending to be Pukhtoon (in a university) was making fun of Punjabis, when I confronted him and asked him who he was, he said bla bla. I didn't listen much after that, as I understood exactly who he was from the first word he uttered, from shape of his eyes and his stature. Then guess what happened?

If he was short, with chinky eyes, with a pulled up head, small flat nose speaking Pushto, it means he was a Tajik. In addition to the things I just mentioned, if he also had a flat face, it means he was an Uzkbek. You should have taken a knife out and slit his throat!

4. Dude, no one can create "perfect" harmony between different tribes. We will need to work out a local, some sort of evolved "pukhtoonwali" law.

6. Again, go for it, as people will feel secure to settle in their homelands. (under protection of the new state)
7. That is never going to end, however, the increase trade (C.Asia) will nullify that.

Well agreed in all except #9 once in union we can easily eradicate the Drug AKA poppy production if and its a big IF we want to really do it. because its worth a billions and that is why Canada and USA agencies don't really do anything about it but protect em.

I am of the view that we have NO escape from this situation without biting the bullet and making another sacrifice to make it work, because if Afghanistan stays in its current state it will become a process of slow poisoning for us. And i cant stress enough that i don't want a merger but a UAE like model with two governments but with synchronized areas of cooperation.
