Afghan policeman shoots dead five British soldiers

After the naked US occupation, not even a thread of evidence was found of anything Saddam was blamed for. No nuclear, biological or chemical weapons or their manufacturing facilities could be unearthed despite all frantic efforts. And if yes, show me the proof.

Fact of the matter is, you are a liar; you are deliberately misguiding the members and spreading disinformation. However, let me remind you that this is not the Fox news, spread your lies where people are ready to buy them.
Then what was three separate UN/IAEA inspection teams doing in Iraq in the first place? The fact that all three team leaders were non-Americans is highly significant. If all three men had any doubts as to what they were supposed to do in Iraq, if they had any suspicions as to what the US wanted to do, they would have spoken up or refuse their appointments. No one held weapons to their heads to force them to those positions. Explain to the readers what were they doing in Iraq in the first place? What were they looking for? Why? What gave the UN/IAEA the motivations to create those teams? Those teams were not under the usual NPT protocols. They were coercive while the usual NPT inspections were voluntary. Why were they coercive? Are these questions somehow related to Fox News?

To destroy the crop, you don’t have to napalm the fields
But that was what you wanted...
If the US spy satellites can 'locate' and 'identify' insurgents on the ground, and direct the soldiers or drones to eradicate them, why they can not see the huge poppy fields? And if they can see the huge poppy fields, why the USAF does not send the B-57s/B-2s do destroy the fields by the carpet bombing?

(BTW you folks had no problem napalming the paddy fields in Vietnam and Combodia);
Was that for crop eradication? Or for some other purposes? You might want to consult the history books for that...Oh wait a moment...You did admit a preference for ignorance about SE Asia. Never mind.

a spray of chemical will do the job without causing any damage to the field or the farmers. These ideas have been floated earlier but always rejected by the American administration on lame excuses as the one you have given in your reply.
One of those 'lame excuses' was we were hoping that religious motivations would help. Guess not.

In addition to the destruction of the poppy field, several other measures could have be taken such as:

a. Buying the entire poppy crop from the farmers at the market price and destroy it.
b. Tracking and targeting the poppy harvest
c. Tracking and targeting the mobile and stationary laboratories
d. Tracking and confiscating the chemicals used in the extraction and purification of the opium
e. Controlling the narcotic traffic across the Afghan borders
f. Identifying and putting on trial the corrupt Afghan officials involved in narcotic business
g. Suspending and punishing the NATO/ISAF field commanders who are helping directly and indirectly the Afghan narcotic smugglers in return of their lives
Other than item 'g' would those other measures increase US/NATO bootprints in Afghanistan? Guess so, eh? Guess that would also give YOU even more cause to call US 'invaders' and 'oppressors' and to shed even more crocodile tears.

Q,

Thanks for the post---Scott Ritter has been many times on the tv---I have wathed him many atimes---he always stated that there was nothing left in iraq---the americans were thorough after the first GW---.

Nuclear what nuclear capability---you need to have some resource---some capability----.

The murder of iraqi muslims is based on the story of one iraqi engr who could not get a job in iraq, went to germany and applied of asylum and in his statement made all kinds of lies about the iraqi program----.

There maybe ten different inspectors---what difference does it make if they are your lapdogs and do anything in their power to make to you happy---.

In the housing boom here in the u s---the house appraiser gave whatever appraisal was needed by the mortgage fin company---whatever information would make the bank happy was given---americans wanted someones blood after 9/11---Saddam and iraq were a convenient scapegoat to be executed.

Ritter put himself on the news and on the paid speaking circuit as much as possible because he destroyed his own credibility a long time ago, especially when he accepted 400 large ones to make a film about Iraq. You might want to check up on that factoid.

Only in your mind. That is why Mastan brought up Scott Ritter, he is an American isn’t he? You said that he was close to ‘exposing’ the Iraqi nuclear program, and in reply I quoted you what he said about the program. He was not a maniac, so he refused to say what Bush & Cronies wanted to hear. Even the former CIA chief claimed that he was under pressure from the Bush & Cronies to given them desirable reports. And here you are talking about American and the non-American.

Don’t make yourself a Janitor. A Janitor is a respectable person who earns his livings through honesty and hard work. You Mr. Gambit, are a person who got himself aligned with the foreign invaders and alongside these oppressors harmed his own country and people.

Was that for crop eradication? Or for some other purposes? You might want to consult the history books for that...Oh wait a moment...You did admit a preference for ignorance about SE Asia. Never mind.
I just showed you the mirror; you folks can go to any length to achieve your goal, even if its achieved through burning alive the innocents, or dropping tons of TNT and napalm on the paddy fields. Eradicating poppy is not in your interest, and that is the only explanation that can be given for your inability to control the opium in Afghanistan.

One of those 'lame excuses' was we were hoping that religious motivations would help. Guess not.
Religion? I thought you were smarter than this. In eight years you could not find out about this? Maybe this helps:

” increase US/NATO boot prints..” OK, don’t make me laugh and don’t make mockery of yourself.

And you expect me to take your alphabet soup of degrees seriously when it is evident for all to see that when challenged, you can only resort to cheap ethnic and personal insults?

Challenged? What challenge, every question that you raised, I have sufficiently answered to it with references. And what cheap ethnic and personal insult? What you are talking about people in Iraq and Afghanistan is not ethnic and personal insult? Only you have self-respect, others are lesser humans or animals?

Hi,

Ritter may have put himslef on any paid circuit or media circus----he may have accepted 400k or 4 million k to make the movie---the bottomline is that anything and everything related to making a chemical has its footprints left in the serial numbers of the equipment that is neccessary to make up a chemical lab---there were israelis on larry king live saying so talking that mossad has uncovered nothing at all.

There was nothing missing from the manufacturures who make the lab equipment----neither in europe nor elsewhere----the person who was the leadman all through the years---

The man---Scott Ritter---who ruthlessly tore down the labs in iraq---everybody believed him after GW1----but when he had completed his job and others wanted him to lie----that man stood up against the government of George Bush, Dick Cheney---no corrupt man would dare do that---a man of total courage , honesty and integrity would have the balz to stand up to challenge the state---wake up sir and feel the truth---the govt ended up killing over a million muslims in iraq---just to live upto a lie---now millions more are lying to make that lie a truth.

Bull...You failed to define, per UN/IAEA criteria, what constitute 'WMD', since the absence of 'WMD' is central to your criticism about Iraq. All three UN/IAEA inspection teams were led by non-Americans by design. You did not know that and if the exclusion of Americans from the top position of those teams are insignificant, then why did they institute that exclusion in the first place? You did not even know Americans were deliberately excluded from being chief of those inspection teams. I have no need to go on.

And what cheap ethnic and personal insult?
When I challenge people like you who so quickly jump to use Vietnam as a convenient rhetorical club over the US, I have no problems telling everyone my national origins, but I also do not expect ADULTS to use that admission so they can imply that I am some sort of traitor to my country of birth just because I do not agree with them, as you have done so several times already.

Examples...
You Mr. Gambit, are a person who got himself aligned with the foreign invaders and alongside these oppressors harmed his own country and people.
Can’t complaint really; you did not even spare your own country and your own people and joined hands with the oppressors and occupiers in the slaughter, how will you think straight for Afghans?
You are beneath contempt.

What you are talking about people in Iraq and Afghanistan is not ethnic and personal insult? Only you have self-respect, others are lesser humans or animals?
No. I have never even implied that those who cooperate with US for the betterment of their countries as 'traitors' as you have so thinly veiled done with me.

This is not just about chemical weapons but also about nuclear weapons and their associated programs. If you actually read Obeidi's book, contents of which Ritter did not and could not dispute, you will see many instances where Obeidi himself bypass laws and regulations regarding materials, equipments and restricted knowledge. They smuggled uranium through airport security by taping a package of uranium to an assistant's leg under his trousers. They bought maraging steel in the black market where the sellers knew exactly what the steel will be used for and it was not for sporting equipments. The deceived UN/IAEA inspectors by building false walls and buildings. None of these and many more facts Ritter could not dispute so he have no choice but downplay their significance.

Right...So the US supposedly killed 'a million muslims in Iraq' just for oil profits and from lies but let one man live so he could make money on TV exposing the profiteers?

No...It is YOU who needs to wake up. Look at the pictures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This is not about ordinary weapons but to date the most destructive force mankind produced. We had to drop two of these weapons to end a world war. Why would you want to allow a megalomaniac like Saddam Hussein to have them? He invaded a muslim country for oil with just conventional weapons. What make you think he will become gentle and nice with nuclear weapons? Kim in North Korea may, or may not, have nuclear weapons. May be it is too late but that is why we are working with the Chinese and the Russians to sort North Korea out. No one could or was willing to do the same for Saddam Hussein. The entire ME was afraid of Iraq, even with just conventional weapons.

The Geopolitics Behind The Phony US War In Afghanistan

By F. William Engdahl

One of the most remarkable aspects of the Obama Presidential agenda is how little anyone has questioned in the media or elsewhere why at all the United States Pentagon is committed to a military occupation of Afghanistan. There are two basic reasons, neither one of which can be admitted openly to the public at large.

Behind all the deceptive official debate over how many troops are needed to “win” the war in Afghanistan, whether another 30,000 is sufficient, or whether at least 200000 are needed, the real purpose of US military presence in that pivotal Central Asian country is obscured. Even during the 2008 Presidential campaign candidate Obama argued that Afghanistan not Iraq was where the US must wage war. His reason? Because he claimed, that was where the Al Qaeda organization was holed up and that was the “real” threat to US national security. The reasons behind US involvement in Afghanistan is quite another one.

The US military is in Afghanistan for two reasons. First to restore and control the world’s largest supply of opium for the world heroin markets and to use the drugs as a geopolitical weapon against opponents, especially Russia. That control of the Afghan drug market is essential for the liquidity of the bankrupt and corrupt Wall Street financial mafia.

Geopolitics of Afghan Opium

According even to an official UN report, opium production in Afghanistan has risen dramatically since the downfall of the Taliban in 2001. UNODC data shows more opium poppy cultivation in each of the past four growing seasons (2004-2007), than in any one year during Taliban rule. More land is now used for opium in Afghanistan, than for coca cultivation in Latin America. In 2007, 93% of the opiates on the world market originated in Afghanistan. This is no accident.

It has been documented that Washington hand-picked the controversial Hamid Karzai, a Pashtun warlord from the Popalzai tribe, long in the CIA’s service, brought him back from exile in the USA, created a Hollywood mythology around his “courageous leadership of his people.” According to Afghan sources, Karzai is the Opium “Godfather” of Afghanistan today. There is apparently no accident that he was and is today still Washington’s preferred man in Kabul. Yet even with massive vote buying and fraud and intimidation, Karzai’s days could be ending as President.

The second reason the US military remains in Afghanistan long after the world has forgotten even who the mysterious Osama bin Laden and his alleged Al Qaeda terrorist organization is or even if they exist, is as a pretext to build a permanent US military strike force with a series of permanent US airbases across Afghanistan. The aim of those bases is not to eradicate any Al Qaeda cells that may have survived in the caves of Tora Bora, or to eradicate a mythical “Taliban” which at this point according to eyewitness reports is made up overwhelmingly of local ordinary Afghanis fighting to rid their land once more of occupier armies as they did in the 11980’s against the Russians.

The aim of the US bases in Afghanistan is to target and be able to strike at the two nations which today represent the only combined threat in the world today to an American global imperium, to America’s Full Spectrum Dominance as the Pentagon terms it.

The lost ‘Mandate of Heaven’

The problem for the US power elites around Wall Street and in Washington is the fact that they are now in the deepest financial crisis in their history. That crisis is clear to the entire world and the world is acting on a basis of self-survival. The US elites have lost what in Chinese imperial history is known as the Mandate of Heaven. That mandate is given a ruler or ruling elite provided they rule their people justly and fairly. When they rule tyrannically and as despots, oppressing and abusing their people, they lose that Mandate of Heaven.

If the powerful private wealthy elites that have controlled essential US financial and foreign policy for most of the past century or more ever had a “mandate of Heaven” they clearly have lost it. The domestic developments towards creation of an abusive police state with deprivation of Constitutional rights to its citizens, the arbitrary exercise of power by non elected officials such as Treasury Secretaries Henry Paulson and now Tim Geithner, stealing trillion dollar sums from taxpayers without their consent in order to bailout the bankrupt biggest Wall Street banks, banks deemed “Too Big To Fail,” this all demonstrates to the world they have lost the mandate

In this situation, the US power elites are increasingly desperate to maintain their control of a global parasitical empire, called deceptively by their media machine, “globalization.” To hold that dominance it is essential that they be able to break up any emerging cooperation in the economic, energy or military realm between the two major powers of Eurasia that conceivably could pose a challenge to future US sole Superpower control-China in combination with Russia.

Each Eurasian power brings to the table essential contributions. China has the world’s most robust economy, a huge young and dynamic workforce, an educated middle class. Russia, whose economy has not recovered from the destructive end pf the Soviet era and of the primitive looting during the Yeltsin era, still holds essential assets for the combination. Russia’s nuclear strike force and its military pose the only threat in the world today to US military dominance, even if it is largely a residue of the Cold War. The Russian military elites never gave up that potential.

As well Russia holds the world’s largest treasure of natural gas and vast reserves of oil urgently needed by China. The two powers are increasingly converging via a new organization they created in 2001 known as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). That includes as well as China and Russia, the largest Central Asia states Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The purpose of the alleged US war against both Taliban and Al Qaeda is in reality to place its military strike force directly in the middle of the geographical space of this emerging SCO in Central Asia. Iran is a diversion. The main goal or target is Russia and China.

Officially, of course, Washington claims it has built its military presence inside Afghanistan since 2002 in order to protect a “fragile” Afghan democracy. It’s a curious argument given the reality of US military presence there.

In December 2004, during a visit to Kabul, US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld finalized plans to build nine new bases in Afghanistan in the provinces of Helmand, Herat, Nimrouz, Balkh, Khost and Paktia. The nine are in addition to the three major US military bases already installed in the wake of its occupation of Afghanistan in winter of 2001-2002, ostensibly to isolate and eliminate the terror threat of Osama bin Laden.

The Pentagon built its first three bases at Bagram Air Field north of Kabul, the US’ main military logistics center; Kandahar Air Field, in southern Afghanistan; and Shindand Air Field in the western province of Herat. Shindand, the largest US base in Afghanistan, was constructed a mere 100 kilometers from the border of Iran, and within striking distance of Russia as well as China.

Afghanistan has historically been the heartland for the British-Russia Great Game, the struggle for control of Central Asia during the 19th and early 20th Centuries. British strategy then was to prevent Russia at all costs from controlling Afghanistan and thereby threatening Britain’s imperial crown jewel, India.

Afghanistan is similarly regarded by Pentagon planners as highly strategic. It is a platform from which US military power could directly threaten Russia and China, as well as Iran and other oil-rich Middle East lands. Little has changed geopolitically over more than a century of wars.

Afghanistan is in an extremely vital location, straddling South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Afghanistan also lies along a proposed oil pipeline route from the Caspian Sea oil fields to the Indian Ocean, where the US oil company, Unocal, along with Enron and Cheney’s Halliburton, had been in negotiations for exclusive pipeline rights to bring natural gas from Turkmenistan across Afghanistan and Pakistan to Enron’s huge natural gas power plant at Dabhol near Mumbai. Karzai, before becoming puppet US president, had been a Unocal lobbyist.

Al Qaeda doesn’t exist as a threat

The truth of all this deception around the real purpose in Afghanistan becomes clear on a closer look at the alleged “Al Qaeda” threat in Afghanistan. According to author Erik Margolis, prior to the September 11,2001 attacks, US intelligence was giving aid and support both to the Taliban and to Al Qaeda. Margolis claims that “The CIA was planning to use Osama bin Laden’s Al Qaeda to stir up Muslim Uighurs against Chinese rule, and Taliban against Russia’s Central Asian allies.”

The US clearly found other means of stirring up Muslim Uighurs against Beijing last July via its support for the World Uighur Congress. But the Al Qaeda “threat” remains the lynchpin of Obama US justification for his Afghan war buildup.

Now, however, the National Security Adviser to President Obama, former Marine Gen. James Jones has made a statement, conveniently buried by the friendly US media, about the estimated size of the present Al Qaeda danger in Afghanistan. Jones told Congress, “The al-Qaeda presence is very diminished. The maximum estimate is less than 100 operating in the country, no bases, no ability to launch attacks on either us or our allies.”

That means that Al-Qaeda, for all practical purposes, does not exist in Afghanistan. Oops

Even in neighboring Pakistan, the remnants of Al-Qaeda are scarcely to be found. The Wall Street Journal reports, “Hunted by US drones, beset by money problems and finding it tougher to lure young Arabs to the bleak mountains of Pakistan, al Qaeda is seeing its role shrink there and in Afghanistan, according to intelligence reports and Pakistan and U.S. officials. For Arab youths who are al Qaeda’s primary recruits, ‘it’s not romantic to be cold and hungry and hiding,’ said a senior U.S. official in South Asia.”

If we follow the statement to its logical consequence we must conclude then that the reason German soldiers are dying along with other NATO youth in the mountains of Afghanistan has nothing to do with “winning a war against terrorism.” Conveniently most media chooses to forget the fact that Al Qaeda to the extent it ever existed, was a creation in the 1980’s of the CIA, who recruited and trained radical muslims from across the Islamic world to wage war against Russian troops in Afghanistan as part of a strategy developed by Reagan’s CIA head Bill Casey and others to create a “new Vietnam” for the Soviet Union which would lead to a humiliating defeat for the Red Army and the ultimate collapse of the Soviet Union.

Now US NSC head Jones admits there is essentially no Al Qaeda anymore in Afghanistan. Perhaps it is time for a more honest debate from our political leaders about the true purpose of sending more young to die protecting the opium harvests of Afghanistan.

At any rate, you did not reply, with all the assets in the space, in the sky, and on the ground, how those poppy fields are still surviving and coughing out opium?

seems like their satilites only work in hollywood movies but cannot see Karzai's borther poppy feiled who is known biggest drug dealer in afghanistan

$2,000 For A Dead Afghan Child, $100,000 For Any American Who Died Killing It

698c3cafb661a928bcb7997c6df9fdf9.jpg

NEW YORK CITY—After Obama apologized for the strike which the Afghan government claimed killed well over a hundred ordinary country folk, came the report that the families of those killed, and subsequent Afghani dead falling in harm’s way of the US military, continuing as before, can apply to receive up to $2,000 compensation. This is the price the great United States of American puts on an Afghan or Pakistan human being, while awarding $100,000 to families of Americans who die while fighting and killing wherever.

Shocking? Shame provoking? Embarrassing that no Afghani or Pakistani child or parent has any human right at all, including the right not to be blown to pieces in a US drone air strike? – the final insult being the value of their lives put at a mere $2,000 by the wealthiest nation in history?

Naw, not within the general public, which more or less accepts this assessment of a well-liked Commander-in-Chief President Obama, and accepts the calculations by his generals and higher officers.

In imperialist America, there is not even any interest in such 'war casualties,' considered 'inevitable' by the U.S. government, now led by the Obama administration, as it continues to react worldwide to the Saudi Arabians (and one Algerian and one Yemenite) who suicided themselves into the walls of the Pentagon and World Trade Center in 2001.

Why bother to continue amplifying the point of this article? Why bother to remind people that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has demanded that US stop killing its citizens from the air? The U.S. installed President Karzai of Afghanistan has pleaded for a bombing halt for years to no avail. His legislature has long called for negotiations with the former governing Taliban, amnesty for all, and the removal of U.S. and other foreign armed forces.

Why bother to remind people that the Iraq legislature asked for the same, years ago? Who remembers? All this was reported by the Associate Press but appeared only on the Internet. (In Iraq, a 'Sympathy Payment' - as reported in 2005 - could be as high as $6,000. Maybe it is higher in Iraq because Iraq has a lot of oil.)

But, in any case, who cares? Only the exceptional so called 'bleeding hearts', 'oversensitive' progressives, communists, socialists and overseas anti-imperialists like Presidents Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales, Rafael Correa, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Daniel Ortega and some others, like Lula of Brazil, who are aware that it is healthier for their country to keep their reaction to themselves.

Words, words, words, as drones continue to fire missiles on orders from the popular highest elected official in America.

Yours truly will never forget being taken aback by Barak Obama's hand shooting up in the air in answer to Wolf Blitzer, monitoring a Democratic Candidates Debate, 'Raise your hand, if you would give the go ahead for a missile strike to take out an important al Qaida leader, if you knew there would be civilian casualties.' (Blitzer emphasized the last phrase.)

Wish that Dennis Kucinich or Mike Gravel were president today. They did not raise their hands.

All the more puzzling is this observation in context of the fact that President Obama is the loving father of two young children. Too bad Blitzer didn't ask, 'Raise your hand if you would give the go ahead for a missile strike to take out an important al Qaida leader, if you knew YOUR OWN CHILDREN would be casualties.'

Still more puzzling because the children of nations under US militarily occupation are Obama's and America's responsibility, as Jesus, Obama's Savior, taught, as even more basic than the Geneva Convention's civilian protection signed agreements.

If they are doing this, than shame on them. Those who cooperate with the foreign forces and fight against their country and their people, and sell out themselves for money or whatever incentive are called ‘Traitors’.

very true, and you remind me of the taliban again. they were created, supported, helped and brought to afghanistan by the foregners, they are the traitrors, they are/were killing our children and people in large numbers and destroying the country.

.
“with all the assets in the space, in the sky, and on the ground, how those poppy fields are still surviving and coughing out opium for past eight or so years?”

people of afghanistan are struggling to feed themselves and keep their kids alive, they are not after delicioiuse food, but bread only with water will be more than enough for them, it is not a joke my friend. look at the opium map of afghanistan it is largely concentrated where the taliban have influence with the exception of Badakhshan which is badly impoverished and people grow poppy. the northern, central and western afghanistan is mostly free of poppy production and provinces such as Balkh has zero opium cultivation and in all these areas the taliban dont have influence. even in the east of the country such as Laghman provice where I come from, opium has significant decrease and people are growing rice and other things. and it took time to clear all those places free of opium, there were massive assistance and programmes helping the farmers to switch from poppy to rice, wheat and other legal productions. if the gov of afghanistan or the americans do anyting to get rid of the poppy production over the night by poisoning the fields, people will be left with nothing, that is the only income they have got, despite the fact that they know poppy trade is illegal according to islamic teachings, the taliban know this and are well exploiting the situation. the taliban are the biggest drug dealers in the country.

This guy is not looking out for the welfare of the Afghanis. He is exploiting their miseries under the Taliban just so he can criticize the US and puff himself up as some hero for 'the oppressed'. Heck...He probably would not recognize one of 'the oppressed' if one were to beg in his face. Do not be surprise if you will find those who claim to be for 'the oppressed' are usually quite well off.
