A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce made a statement on the US decision to impose tariffs on 200 billion US dollars in China's exports to the US.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce and Commerce of the Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 18, spoke on the US decision to impose tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports to the United States.
The spokesman pointed out that in spite of the overwhelming majority of international and domestic objections, the United States announced a 10% tariff increase on US $200 billion of Chinese imports to the United States from September 24, and further to take other tariff escalation measures. We deeply regret this. In order to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests and the global free trade order, China will have to synchronize its countermoves.
The United States insisted on the Levy of tariffs, bringing new uncertainties to the negotiations between the two sides. It is hoped that the US side will recognize the possible adverse consequences of such actions and take convincing measures to correct them in a timely manner.

发言人指出，美方不顾国际国内绝大多数意见反对，宣布自9月24日起对2000亿美元中国输美产品加征10%的关税，进而还要采取其他关税升级措施。对此我们深表遗憾。为了维护自身正当权益和全球自由贸易秩序，中方将不得不同步进行反制。
美方执意加征关税，给双方磋商带来了新的不确定性。希望美方认识到这种行为可能引发的不良后果，并采取令人信服的手段及时加以纠正。
