What's new

A sole international market for China's J-10 fighter jets is taking shape

Oh my god!! This is hilarious!! LMAO!!:rofl: :omghaha::omghaha: Oh man i can't stop laughing after reading @Al-Ansar's thread here and finding those old thread. Thank god that those photos weren't removed. I am the one who noticed the 10 squadrons news in a article's link provided by @Species vai and shared it in BAF's thread. Even i had doubt about the 10 squadrons before finding it.

Original article is in this link. @Al-Ansar is this the article you are looking for? :- https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/delta-force-keeping-bengali-skies-free.276730/

The funny part is @Al-Ansar is saying with so much confidence that he has been paying close attention to defence-related news and developments over the last couple of decades, both through research and personal contacts but he clearly forgot that he was the only one who even quoted and replied to that thread i posted and labeled it as BS from SAK/BD Military like he usually does explicitly/implicitly about most of the Bangladesh defense news.

The report by Dr Sean Wilson was published on Air Force Monthly/Air Force Daily. Another funny part is he went to page no #329 to find my old post but didn't notice this one on #362.

@Al-Ansar we are not your bosom friends so that we have to lie/joke with you. So at least when @mb444 vai said he saw the news you should have believed him. It's not our job to sit here with proofs to correct you every time. So stop saying the same crap every time, lumping everything with BD Military/SAK and attacking/blamming people directly/indirectly. You have some serious anti-BD Mililitary/SAK syndrome. Get some treatment.
Oh so we are really going to get 10 squadron then ? fantastic .

LMAO - Dude re-read that section about "10 squadron" in full.

It appears I overstated BAF's "aspiration" by an extra squadron.

I will come back with a full response to your post when I am on a computer. It will be fun.

I really do not know what the issue is here and why we are arguing.

If you accept the article is a bona fide reflection of BAF thinking then it is crystal clear that they feel 10 sqd is the necessary strength for BD defence. That is the end of it.

The article recognises it may not be feasible in the short term due to finances....but nevertheless a clear statement is there as to BAF requirement.

I would contend this is not an aspirational statement but rather setting out the minimum force strength for an effective BAF.

Okay doesn't matter, I am ready to wait till 2030. Now you guys play and I watch from gallery . ;)

Wait all you want.

Not gonna happen.
But how you are so sure about it? It's 11 more years remain to reach to the force goal 2030!

Yeah i read it in full. Midterm plan-10 squadrons and short term plan is 5 squadrons (3 air defense and 2 MRCA). Don't know what you are planning to say next but point you made first was 10 squadrons is hoax created by the person you hate most which was wrong AGAIN. I don't see anything to argue about more. So don't divert the topic. At least নাই মামার চেয়ে কানা মামাও হাজারগুনে ভাল। Can't tolerate this waiting anymore.

Of course I can’t predict the future and I am not sure.

But from what we have seen and can infer it’s highly unlikely.

1 full strength squadron in BAF is 16 planes.

So approximately 160 aircraft.

Currently there are about 40 fighters in service.

You're talking about increasing the existing force by 400 percent in 11 years.

Firstly, the money.

Secondly, the choice of type or types.

Thirdly, the lack of infrastructure and support.

Fourthly, the lack of training and qualified pilots.

Fifth, the lack of any semblance of competence up until this point.

Two examples:

In 1991, BAF failed to move its fighters in the path of a cyclone.

More recently, the tailor made tender clearly describing Russian fighters which led to the Russians attempting to squeeze Bangladesh on pricing.

Nothing we have seen till today should give us any ounce of confidence in BAF.

True....but lets hope for the best. BN was rubbish not so long ago and look at the turn around.

There is hope.

Hopefully, leadership got some sense knocked into them.

I'm actually looking forward to the new K-8W being delivered.

I'm curious how many they bought and how they will utilize them.

Setting up 2 full strength primary jet training squadrons is promising.

Also, I hope there is some sort of recruitment drive going on for new potential pilots.

I'm sure there are alot of talented young kids who would make good pilots.

They are out there amongst the 160 million.

Some sources do not disclose the number of K-8W while others say 23.

Yea thats what I meant.

If its 23 then I would take it to be a good thing.

If its closer to 7, not as encouraging.

Well 23 K-8Ws would come it at no less than 200 million US dollars and 7 at just 60 million dollars. The more money spent on trainers the less available for fighter aircraft.

There are already 9 K-8Ws and 16 Yak-130s(before accidents) and so not sure of the logic of buying 23 K-8Ws as then you would have more trainers than fighter aircraft. I think the usual ratio is 2 fighters to 1 trainer plane.

So assume BAF does get the 23 K-8Ws and all the lost Yak-130s are replaced, it ends up with 48 jet trainers in total. Keeping the 2:1 ratio then that means 96 fighters which is exactly 6 full squadrons.

Now the source that says the deal for 23 K-8Ws was signed last summer also talks about another 16 Yak-130s:

https://thediplomat.com/2018/06/bangladeshs-new-military-deal-with-china/

"There are also plans to buy 16 units of the Russian Yak-130 to replace the T-37."

And so 32 K-8Ws and 32 Yak-130s may be the jet trainers fleet from the early 2020s onwards.

.
Well it is very interesting that a country which can not manage more than 8 mig-29s
Dreamt of purchasing
Gripen E,Eurofighter Typhoon and J-10 C.
