My argument is investment in defence should not be based on affordability(which is secondary) but threat perception.
Linking it to patriotism of a leader is lame, because a leader has to balance everything.
India invests a significant amount on defence because of threat it faces from pakistan and china. Similarly pakistan faces much bigger threat(India) and hence has to spend a lot of money on defence.(% wise)
But it will be stupid for India to try to match USA or even china, it will ruin our economy and lead us to starvation.
Can you tell me what % of your GDP are you planning to spend on defence so that you can make above purchases.
Well that's just equally lame
Bangladesh spends around 1% of its GDP on defense, and that does
NOT include purchases of new equipment.
And if you were paying a bit more attention, I was simply saying that the country need more committed leaders (and there's patriotism as well). And not aim for making money all the time. The MiG-29 case back in the 90s was riddled with corruption.
That's all. No need to beat about the bush.
...
Junk that your air force is going to buy. Rather, your whole air force is "junk" that's why Nishan was suggesting this. We are sad to see BDs military in such a sorry state. Can't even defend against petty India. Rather, you guys have to buy 3rd gen F-7 which Pakistan has retired. Sad.
Good God...taking stupidity to another level huh?
Okay...so according to your logic, the JF-17 is 'junk' as recommended by Nishan?
And that includes the F-16 (which your country uses)?
The MiG-35 is still under development and will come with a powerful AESA radar. So how is it junk? Care to explain genius?
Is Pakistan already using F-22s and F-35s or something?
And if I am not mistaken, F-7s are still in
active service in the PAF, and in the process of being replaced over the next couple of years by some....junk...
(On a side note, the JF-17 is not junk. It is simply a low cost fighter for nations wanting one).
