A Plan that Bangladesh Air Force could have Followed

We are not china and china uses the Su27 flanker not su30. Have you ever heard of Russians []
going for F-15s (hypothetically). You know what I am implying to.

PLAAF use both Su-27 (later evolved into J-11) and Su-30 which they bought during the 90s. Here's a picture of one PLAAF Su-30:

Sukhoi Su-30MKK - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Su-30MKK Flanker Multirole Fighter Aircraft - SinoDefence.com

Designation is Su-30MKK, where the MKK in Russian literally stands for Modernizirovannyi, Kommercheskiy, Kitayski . Or Modernized, Commercial, China.

As for the F-15, well, we aren't Russians either

And as for KFX and TFX , both will be a success I think. They are doing it in joint venture and have access to
western tech. TFX will be developed with collaboration of Saab.

Brah...we'll see...

In my humble opinion by 2025 :

- Around 5 squadrons (5x14 = 70 birds) of Mig-29 SMT or an even advanced version !

- Around 6 batteries of HQ-15 !

- Around 4-5 batteries of HQ-18 !

- Around 2-3 dozen HQ-7s !

- Around a dozen SPADA 2000 !

Brother what the difference between HQ18 and HQ15. I though HQ9 is a derivative of S300.

. .
And if you were to read my post, it clearly states that it would be possible to make Bangladesh into a very decent military without diverting any real money from education, health and infrastructure.

Look, BD is no longer a dirt poor country(yes it is still poor) but it can afford to construct a military that even India will find is no longer a walk in the park. The will is required which seems to be lacking.

If you still disagree, please use statistical data to back up your argument because I sure can use them in abundance to back up my argument.

My argument is investment in defence should not be based on affordability(which is secondary) but threat perception.
Linking it to patriotism of a leader is lame, because a leader has to balance everything.

India invests a significant amount on defence because of threat it faces from pakistan and china. Similarly pakistan faces much bigger threat(India) and hence has to spend a lot of money on defence.(% wise)

But it will be stupid for India to try to match USA or even china, it will ruin our economy and lead us to starvation.

Can you tell me what % of your GDP are you planning to spend on defence so that you can make above purchases.

I couldn't differentiate between HQ-15 and HQ-9 either but I do hope this helps :

HQ-9/-15, and RF-9 (HHQ-9 and S-300) (China) - Jane's Strategic Weapon Systems

As for the HQ-18 :

HQ-18 (S-300V) (China) - Jane's Strategic Weapon Systems

Essentially I think the trio are all different versions of the S-300s ! I think with a range between 200km and 350km they could provide more than adequate SAM cover for BD ! Though I dunno if the 350km could be exported !

I was thinking that BAF is a nice Air Force that wants to dominate the area of its home land and would do anything to protect it. For this they require a potent and qualitative Air Force that can handle the challenges that are going to face in future in ASIA region. So I think they should require a decent force with better equipments like, if they had followed a Plan from 2000:

30-33 F-7BGIs from China in 2000.

30-33 F-16C/D Block-52s from USA in 2005

30-33 Mig-35s in 2015

30-33 JF-17 Block-IIs in 2015

Yeah? You think so? The pictures are impressive, but care to explain why these aircrafts have an edge over their rivals?

60 + gripens by 20225.......and a potent airdefence system!

It's for making a potent airforce. Not one that can take over the world.

Junk that your air force is going to buy. Rather, your whole air force is "junk" that's why Nishan was suggesting this. We are sad to see BDs military in such a sorry state. Can't even defend against petty India. Rather, you guys have to buy 3rd gen F-7 which Pakistan has retired. Sad.
That's rich, coming from a person whose National Airforce banks on a light aircraft for the Air superiority Role......
An aircraft we rejected, by the way, due to it being inferior in every aspect............
And I don't know what makes you think that BD and India are hostile to each other................

Around 1% a year more than now but to be phased in over 5 years.

Completely will not really divert many funds from other areas as proportion of GDP that BD government is spending now is going up from around 15% in 2010 to around 20% by 2015

Threat perception? BD needs total military superiority over Myanmar in case they try anything funny.

India is not a threat now but who knows 10-20 years down the line. BD can never protect itself against India by conventional weapons but it can build a military that will make India think twice.

Well that's just equally lame

Bangladesh spends around 1% of its GDP on defense, and that does NOT include purchases of new equipment.

And if you were paying a bit more attention, I was simply saying that the country need more committed leaders (and there's patriotism as well). And not aim for making money all the time. The MiG-29 case back in the 90s was riddled with corruption.

That's all. No need to beat about the bush.

Good God...taking stupidity to another level huh?

Okay...so according to your logic, the JF-17 is 'junk' as recommended by Nishan?

And that includes the F-16 (which your country uses)?

The MiG-35 is still under development and will come with a powerful AESA radar. So how is it junk? Care to explain genius?

Is Pakistan already using F-22s and F-35s or something?

And if I am not mistaken, F-7s are still in active service in the PAF, and in the process of being replaced over the next couple of years by some....junk...

(On a side note, the JF-17 is not junk. It is simply a low cost fighter for nations wanting one).

What happened to your stealth fighters that you have been suggesting all along? Are they really worth more than a dime when even Serbia has downed US stealth planes and Irani claims that it hs the technology to uild a radar/missile that can down stealths? May be people will accept your great idea here that BAF has to buy a few sq. of stealths. So, come forward with the stealths.

this is a very good suggestion, without upgrading BAF can't improove much

In 2025 BD's economy is projected to be around $250 billion....................taking into account a 1% acquisition budget, how will you accomodate everyone of these things in $ 2.5 billion ??
