India to create 35 new border posts along China border

New Delhi: 35 new border posts will be created and additional Indo Tibetan Border Police personnel deployed in a phased manner to step up security on China-India border, which has seen a spate of incursions from the Chinese recently.

Outgoing Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force Ajay Chadha said while 98 border posts along the frontier, many of them in high altitudes, will see an increase in troop numbers, 35 new posts will be created.

"This is a comprehensive plan and we will be completing this task in a phased manner by the year 2017," Mr Chadha said.

The new border posts will require additional personnel which will be done by drawing manpower from new recruitments.

At present, India has over 150 border posts along this icy frontier and the paramilitary personenl guard 3,488 kms of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

He said the force is also enhancing the communication and other operational requirements of the personnel at these posts, a number of which face heavy snow and blizzard conditions year long.

In order to provide the troops succour from cold weather at these high-altitude posts, a new variety of 'Bukhaaris' (stoves) are being provided.

Mr Chadha, a 1977-batch IPS officer of AGMU cadre, will retire on Saturday after serving as its chief for close to nine months.

You better build them quick. Consider the speed the rupee is falling, by 2017 each post will cost 3 quadrillion rupees (rounded) since the Indians can even make a decent nail and has to be imported.

yea that's difference between Chinese and Indian military. Not the equipment quality, the ability to produce own equipment, better recruit quality, better pay, 3 times the spending, and the speed of troop movement ACROSS the country, and a bunch of other things.

But these 35 new posts to be constructed in "soon" will be the difference.

You know how many university graduates goes into the PLA. You know the education a common PLA soldier would have.

Not only do we have better fighters, tanks and what not, we also have more. And no you don't, India equipment wise is not better than Japan or England.

China should not mind this. India is in no mood to attack China. this is for defensive purpose only. the border is too big, and no of posts too less.

A better soldier is one who is not afraid to die and who is motivated.

Are you stuck in 1800s. A modern soldier uses equipments that a uneducated person cannot hope to understand. Educated people are usually smarter and thus more suited to the MODERN conditions of war.

As to not afraid of death and motivated. You realize that nationalism, and sacrificing oneself is a noble act that only the educated can afford.

China should not mind this. India is in no mood to attack China. this is for defensive purpose only. the border is too big, and no of posts too less.

What if China also increase the posts along the border, that will furtherly escalate the tension. China is not interested at all to attack India as well.
