Like Independence day is 15th august Wednesday so if one takes leave from his work place for 13th august + 14th august in advance.

He will get:

11th august+12th august (Saturday+Sunday) + 13th-14th paid leave(free leave back log) + 15th august (independence day)

In short by applying for 2 leave you will get 5 days for holidays.
