Recently I came across a thread created by an indian immature who claimed that Bangladesh GDP per capita is higher than Pakistan so let me clarify everything to that kid.

Bangladesh GDP per capita for 2017 nominal according to IMF is:- $1508

Bangladesh GDP PPP per capita for 2017 is:- $4205

Pakistan GDP per capita for 2017 nominal is:- $1629 = 8% more than Bangladesh

I agree with you, PPP is the better parameter.

Why on imf Pakistan 2017 data is not available?

I believe they are properly calculating it, Ishaq Dar said that the GDP was underestimated so they told World Bank to use proper methods to calculate the number, IMF might be doing the same. It takes quite a bit of time to come up with the report. I would not be surprised if the numbers jump quite a bit.

Excerpt from article:

“I have asked the World Bank to trigger a study and come out with the actual size of Pakistan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which I believe is currently understated by 20% to 25%”, said Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday while addressing a gathering of chartered accountants from South Asian nations.

so you take this illiterate and full of hate indians so much seriously?

Dude!! You spoiled the fantasy of those kids!
Anyway, though, the Pakistan is recovering from devastation wrecked by PPP Govt. however, still, we're not doing enough. Pakistan have good consumer base now but we lack necessary level of industrialization. I wish there had been many people up for making risky investment. We've growing middle class with their millions rotting in banks but they don't know how to use them except for making high home and buying shining cars. In fact, no one cares much about collective advantage anymore. There are many real concerns we should be doing something about.

When comparing two countries PPP should be used not GDP nominal.

And as per IMF Pakistan informal economy is 36% of overall GDP. Ishaq dar has also authorized World Bank to re-calculate Pakistan GDP which will increase our GDP significantly.

Initially I thought IMF is waiting for economic survey but data was released by govt and IMF hasn't updated it yet.

Of you're gonna compare govt source then BD's per capita is 1602. 2% lower than Pakistan.

2016 Figures for World Bank , IMF , Atlas method Pakistan is ahead . 2017 comparison can be done when that is available for Pakistan .

Bro. everyone can find and read the information on relevant sites. As a Pakistani, what concerns me is the figures about our economy. India or Bangladesh isn't center of my world, I look on developed nations as an inspiration and see our nation far behind.

You are comparing IMF data for Bangladesh and govt. data for Pakistan? As IMF data for Pakistan is unavailable for 2017, than why don't use govt. vs govt. data for both country for balance ? By that account-
Bangladesh -$1602
Pakistan-$1629=1% higher than Bangladesh.
Next year, IMF will release data on Pakistan for 2017.Which may or may not show, whether Bangladesh crossed Pakistan in per capita GDP,albeit by only few dollars.
For 2016, it is
Bangladesh-$1411
Pakistan-$1468

Its all about base year.
Currently, Pakistan is using 2005-2006 as base year, while India is using 2011-2012 as base year and here comes a vast difference in GDP growth.

Dont know about Bangladesh.
