I guess in your world people dont give gifts to their spouses hmm
read my second comment, i said it is good to give gifts to your wife or family members, but it does not make sense if you wish to see Bf/Gf culture in Pakistani society.

Seems like people have misunderstanding

  • The act of gift giving (Completely Legal ) , practiced even in Islam
  • Prophet used to also give gift to people around him return the favor
  • Also evidence of gift giving between him and his spouse.
  • Islam encourages people to have certain level of communication prior to accepting a proposal from interested person. This evidence exist in our Hadith books and is quite clear.
  • No one is asked to get married without their own "Consent"
  • Enough evidence in hadith that suggest that the women you plan to marry you should have certain communication with them , not that you "hide yourself in cave"
Then comes the act of Valentine's day , cultural aspect of gift giving chocolate or ballons or flowers completely normal and dies not harm society.

Really no one blows themselve up in crowded centers.

The Allegations:
People jump the boat , that valentine's day considers marrige obsolete and people do certain acts outside of wedlock. Now this is a personal act for a person , such incidents can happen even in middle of a extreme culture like Wahabis. This has nothing to do with the festival. The act of chocolate giving or postcard is not an open end invite to do acts which are permitted "after" marrige

Some people have this misunderstanding , that if they wrap their women in a black wrapper head to toe or they look like wahabi ladies in Saudia their path to Heaven is gaurenteed

As for the allegation , why do none muslims don't wish Muslims well in festivals , actually they do , our Mulla in Pakistan may not be aware of it but people do actually send their best wishes all the time.

If I gave a flower to another human tomorrow , they will not die
Similarly a box of chocolate will not kill someone they might say thank you

Islamic teaching also demands
  • Honest state which gives proper justice (FAIL)
  • Lot of Jobs for Youth and income for people (FAIL)
  • Nice health care (FAIL)
  • Nice Life style (FAIL)
  • Sadiq au amin Leader with no offshore dealings(FAIL)

lol How about you all focus on the Big item let the people who are enjoying a dinner with their loved one and who have bought some gift be on our :coffee:

Maybe those wasting money on stupid decorations should feed orphans and homeless people instead of satisfying their degenerate desires.

There's no shortage of people dying of starvation in Pakistan. Go feed them since you have all this money to waste on a pagan (idol worshiper) holiday.

You are mixing up the concept of Lupercalia and Valentine's Day.Lupercalia was celebrated for promoting immorality- Valentine's Day is in the remorse of Saint Valentine who tried to promote marriage rather than fornication.Get your facts right.
Where as for celebration of Valentine, we don't need that festival at all, we are gifted with beautiful and highly spiritual days where we experience brotherhood, nearness to Allah(SWT), sacrificing in the way of Allah. As a Muslim we only say to our lord as wa-qaloo-samyna-wa-atana (We heard and we obey) .
We all have to face our lord one day and if we want to be amongst graceful ones that then we must not adopt immoral things ourselves. However, if your fellow non-muslim respects you, invites you and respects so much that prepares alcohol free sweet for you and cleans that place and others are invited as well then you can go, of course so that they do not feel depressed.

Regards

Excellent.. Most of the people don't know about the saint Valentine's original objective as with everything, west has corrupted this too and the impressionable people especially the teens and unmarried young people brainwashed with Hollywood and bollywood cheap entertainment use this opportunity to "express" their love that goes against moral values of the society and some may even cross all the limits.

Furthermore, as you elaborated, as Muslims we have our own days and events to celebrate.. love (between husband and wife) and marriage are truly valued and encouraged in Islam and I can go on with a lot examples from the holy Prophet (ﷺ) life. But the display of that "love/passion" in the public is not allowed. Also we are not supposed to follow in the foot step of non-Islamic culture.. "lakum deenakum waliya deen" translation "For you is your way and us is ours"

Your argument is based on controlling what others do without breaking any laws or harming anyone unless ofcourse you believe that a man giving flowers to his wife is a terrorist you want a shurti like Police in Pakistan

That is not true, what can i do when High Court has banned Valentines Day (which is a good thing IMO), i am only against indecency in Public, there is a reason why Public Indecency laws exist even in western countries. BTW there is no such thing as complete freedom, there is a limit to everything and if you cross that line you will break the laws and get jailed. You keep twisting my words or you just don't read before replying, i have repeatedly said that there is nothing wrong with giving gifts to your spouse or other family members, it is actually encouraged in Islam too.

So we use ask this kangroo court..of it was valentine day celebrators who blasted bomb in Lahore?
Funny that celebrations of foreign cults never get banned..their pomp and glory increases every year..the event are used widely to launder money and turn black to white..

What is indecent about giving flowers or dining at a fancy restaurant?
In west indecency laws are on public displays of flesh and sexual activities not flowers, choclates and holding hands

A normal person would give a gift to his wife at home, only show offs would go out to display their "love". If you read my comment above again, i said gifts between family members are not a problem, bf/gf culture is the problem. Leave aside average Pakistanis, i don't think there are any people in our Elite Class that would encourage their kids to have boyfriends or girlfriends. Plus i don't understand why people only express their love on Valentines day, what about rest of the year? Same goes with Mothers and Fathers Day? Each and everyday should be Mothers and Fathers day.

The basic decision for a society to make is how far should it allow its members to demand control of the behavior of others.
